Lungs are better...bank account not so much!

This all makes me feel MUCH better about the money I've spent!

I used Blus for a while.. a few months and then in a moment of weakness went back to smoking cigarettes. Then I purchased an EgoTwist (which I broke last week) and fancied it up with an aspire tank..Thursday I got a mod clone of some kind (i have no idea what it is called but it has a sliding panel that I like).. but decided it was too big to carry around so today I stopped into my local shop and picked up a Valkyrie clone that I am in love with. I feel like I am pretty good for now on gear though I'll probably pick up a few other things here and there I am more interested in juice at the moment... today at least

I have been vaping for a month now. In my first month I spent over $500. I did purchase an MVP 2.0 shine so that was big hit. I have also purchased many different tanks, batteries and accessories to try. I'm curious and I also am hoping some of you will make me feel better. How much did you spend in your first months of vaping?

I've been off analogs about three months now and agree there can be a pretty big start up cost. I've been trying to keep a spreadsheet as I go to keep track of my spending and as of right now I'm about $170.00 in the red. It has been lower but then I find new items that I want to make the Vaping experience either easier, taste better, hit harder or be more transportable.

Some of my earlier expenses were really just wasted on devices that just didn't cut it for me. I didn't know what type of draw I preferred so kept spending on lower watt devices and atomizers. It wasn't until I came across a deal for a mechanical Kamry K100 kit and an Atomic rda that I found the type of draw I liked. Quick direct to lungs in my case. Once I found that, I wanted a regulated device that would give me the same draw / hit. So I built a DNA 30 box mod, fantastic for at home use but with dual 18650's it was a bit big going to the store with and dripping into the rda while out and about just wasn't convenient.

So my current daily use gear for out and about is a Stingray 18650 mode with a Fogger v4.3.
At home I usually have the DNA 30 with an Atomic RDA, maybe the fogger if it's dark making it had to drip or if I'm just feeling lazy.

I should be back in the black in a little over a month, have lots of juice in the closet and about ten 30 ml bottles in transit that will steep a few weeks.

My best suggestion would be to try as many devices you can before you buy. See what you like, what's convenient for you, what fits your technical abilities / knowledge. So many options and experiences to choose from and more coming each day. But ultimately it's like my wife says "you can't put a dollar figure on your life" I know I'll be back in the black soon, and then I'll be in the green all while enjoying a cinnamon roll, strawbana or whatever my favorite vape is.

When I first started I met a guy who dealt with wholesale stuff, he hooked me up with: cool fire 2, charger, 4 efest batterys, ickear 30, nautils(ss housing pre release) and two bottles of juice for $100...

One month later I go out and get a mechanical mod, two panzers actualky, a patriot and a legit tugboat. That did well up until recently, I went out and bought a authentic kayfun, authentic end of clones mod, legit Patriot, and ar mod.

I quickly learned what I like, now I realize I want to have 3 authentic mods/attys and the mvp. Waiting to order ghostmodders Casper edition, and get a cartel ss boss and be done with it. Juice , cotton, and wire from there on out.

Just went through the bank account and totaled up a sum of $1350 in 3 months. Ouch but damn, I love it!

I've spent thousands. Literally. My first month I ordered everything I thought I'd like to try and tons of juice. The second month I ordered tons more juice and several mods and tanks. The third month I ordered more juice plus gallons of pg, vg, and 100mg nic. I also ordered dozens of flavorings.

Every month I order more and more. I look at it like this, when I smoked I blew $450 a month and had nothing to show for it. Now I have all sorts of shiny stuff with enough supplies to make my own juices and coils/wicks for years. I also bough a freezer just to store my nic in. It's completely dedicated to nicotine only!

I have at least 2 dozen mods of different types/brands and a topper for each. My favorite for daily use is my Provari with a Russian 91%. My second favorite is my authentic Nemesis with a Taifun GT. Right now I'm awaiting ProVaris new release, but that doesn't stop me from ordering other shiny things.

What's crazy is I got my husband into vaping early on and he buys as much if not more than I do. And even crazier, I got my Mom off smoking and into vaping. She's on a fixed income so I mail her boxes twice a month with coils and my DIY juices. I also buy her tanks and things here and there too. I recently got my mom's sister off smoking and into vaping. So I mail her juice sometimes too. She doesn't Vape nearly as much as we do. Converting people costs me money. But... I'm ok with that because it is adding years to their lives.

If I find a premade juice I like I buy 3. One for me, 1 for my mom, and 1 for my aunt. I do this because I want to. I enjoy keeping them happily into vaping.

I just mailed my mom a box yesterday. It weighed 4 pounds 11 oz. and had all juice and 4 coils in it. That's a lot of juice. But my aunt is visiting my mom and it's for them both.

Been about 3 weeks, think I've spent $300+! And just ordered a Vamo V5 and Aspire Nautilus tank today. Hoping this stops me for a bit, as I have enough juice now for a couple months at least.

Argh!!! Just did the math, and I'm actually closer to $600!!! @#%&!!!

Wonder if I can explain to my wife why I'm eating ramen noodles so much for the next few months...

Now that I know what I like and what I like to vape with, I've pretty much settled around no-frills, el-cheapo RDAs, no-nonsense rugged box mods that are quite cheap also, and dirt-cheap DIY juices.

At this point, I've finally lowered my vaping expenses to the barest minimum and made the "vaping is cheaper than smoking" promise come true. But what gets me is, to get there, I've had to invest in a plethora of devices to try them out, that are now essentially gathering dust. Reflecting back, I'm thinking: if I had known, it could have been so much cheaper and so much simpler. But of course I couldn't know without trying other things first.

There are SO MANY different systems to vaporize a simple cocktail of chemicals, and they all do that simple thing with surprisingly different results. And then there are the issues of quality for the same kind of device - even between two strictly identical devices - the cost of supplies, the amount of messing about you're willing to put up with, the sometimes steep learning curve to go from newbie to advanced vaper...

Compare that to smoking: you buy a pack, and it's always the same inside each and evey pack. There are many brands, but it's pretty much the same smoking experience from one brand to the next. Like them or hate them, cigarettes are always, ALWAYS the same days after day, year after year, and it takes no effort to become an experienced smoker: buy a pack or two, and you'll soon be as proficient as the Marlboro man.

Wih vaping, you actually have to invest time and money to find what you really want, and make it work for you. You can't "pop to the store to get an e-cig" like you would a pack of smokes.

What I've learned is, if you're not too fussy about the taste and hardware quality, and your priority is get nicotine in your system as cheaply as possible, $100/$200 initial investment and a month getting used to vaping is realistic. But if you like your vape, boy! I'd say set aside at the very least $1000 and 4 months of you time.

Quit smoking/started vaping 5 weeks ago, haven't thought about analogs since that glorious day. But, I started with an Evod kit from a local vape store which included two tanks, two batteries, charger and case. A week later I bought two Aerotank Mega's and a Vamo, then another Vamo. A week later I bought two Kayfun's and three clone mech's and a week later have traded two of those and picked up two Dominous mods and a Patriot.

Have spent quite a bit ($1k+) but am happily set up with what I need (maybe, those authentic mechs are too cool).

Have bought everything from the same place I started, a great local vape bar!

I guess I'm in the minority. I haven't bought a single device over $30 and this includes my 1600MaH VV. I don't see how a $150 device can be that much better and I'm able to quit a multi-decade smoking habit. I spend about $60 a month. You can get deep with the bling devices or custom devices but I don't have any intention on spending the same or more than what cigs cost.

I love toys, but in this case, I consider all of my purchases to be temporary. My plan is to eventually (sooner rather than later) quit vaping. My whole intent was to quit smoking by the use of a temporary replacement vice. I have accomplished step one (completely stop using tobacco). I started at 1.8% nicotine e-liquids. I am currently down to 1.2%. My next order will be 0.6%. I believe that I will be vape free long before the end of 2014.

With all of this in mind, I only need basic quality equipment to get me by.

I can see higher end (read: more expensive) devices lasting longer because they have more durable buttons or better machined threads... that sort of thing. Me, I don't care: if something fails, I fix it. So I can get by with cheap stuff.

However, the price also goes up if you want a specific set of features. For instance, if you want a BF with USB charging (qualiy-made or not, ANY BF with USB charging), there's nothing under $250 on the market.

Or the e-LVT I'm vaping with right now: it's essentially an Innokin VV/VW repackaged in a sturdy box, it probably costs a packet of Doritos per unit to manufacture, but it's sold at a non-trivial price. But again, if you want what it offers, there's precious little else to choose from.

I'm like the majority. My lungs are definitely better, but the bank account only noticed a slight change going from cigs to e-cigs (initially at least). Having said that, I wouldn't change a thing other than maybe switching over sooner. I feel so much better, that the fact that I'm actually saving a few bucks is just simply an added bonus.

I started with the Evods, couple of extra tanks, and then kept trying lots of different juices. Broke down and bought an MVP 2.0, and a Kangertech Mega, and am blown away at the difference in the upgrade. Next step is an itaste SVD.

Couldn't be happier overall, even with the spending. Just need to enforce a bit more self-control on myself :)
