The nicotine in your system can be explained by nic patches so its prob best not to mention vaping. We don't have that prob in uk as we don't need medical insurance with our national health service. I could say everyone is treated for free but they deduct a percentage of everyones wages to pay for it. Having said that, there is no discrimination or extra charges if you smoke.

Thanks Jim.

I cannot understand how ya'll spend more on vaping than smoking. I know how ya'll do it - I just cannot understand how ya'll do it. Me - I am using the money I am saving to enjoy the extra spring in my life that I have gained.

Semi, you gotta know I love ya. But. I am a compulsive and impulsive buyer (inherited from my mother), not to mention this need inside me to help others quit tobacco cigarettes, too. I was desperate to quit tobacco cigarettes. Out of the hundreds I've spent (closer to $1k now), I have spent equal amounts on myself as well as my friends, and even strangers. I bought 4 very basic Volt starter kits to use as "loaner" kits for folks at work. I don't push it, but people know I have them. One woman borrowed a loaner kit for her husband over Easter weekend for their trip to visit non-smoking relatives. I supplied the kit with 6 18mg carts. They came back less only one cart but both the woman and her husband used it and both are now off tobacco cigarettes. She came to me yesterday and asked if I might have a spare cart, because her new order actually went to a friend of hers who tried her Volt and immediately wanted one. I love that ripple effect.

Before I switched to Volts, I was using a different 808 system - more expensive. After I fell in with Volts, I found a thread in the e-liquid forum about a pastor in Florida trying to help the homeless in his town stop smoking and get away from tobacco. I maybe would have passed it by, but there was a statement made in that thread that made me mad, and made me realize I had something to give. I donated for the cause through the person purchasing with a group discount, but I also packed up all of my prior 808 batteries, chargers, carts, cases, etc., and mailed them off to Brother Frankie. I hope all those dollars I spent before finding Volt will help in Brother Frankie's cause. Perfectly good used equipment, and I couldn't see it sitting in my closet or worse, being thrown out. Brother Frankie is doing a good thing. Please consider him if you have excess, unused equipment lying about or want to get rid of liquids you don't like or use.

I put together special kits for my brother and a close cousin, who both needed to quit smoking. They were only going to get the best from me. And, I have a special kit ready to be sent to my best friend in Montana. She needs to quit smoking, too. And only the best will do for her, too. These people mean more to me than anything else in the world. If this helps them, I won't have spent money, I will have gained their lives.

So, yeah. I have spent a lot on myself, but I have spent just as much after finding myself in a "cause." I get to live, I want all of them to live, too. And all of you. As long as tobacco cigarettes and their cancer causing smoke is gone from my life and the lives of those I love, I'll be happy. Nicotine, no problem. Smoke, tar, ash, cancer... run BT to ruin, and enjoy doing it with our PV's.

I have items in my shopping cart with Smokeless Image now that will enhance my loaner kits a little, as well as items playing strictly to my vanity and the fun side of vaping. Gotta have a little bit of bling in life. And, I've been trying a lot of sample liquids and I've finally hit on half a dozen that I really, really like, so I have an order ready for ECBlend, too. It also helps knowing that both of these companies that I've come to enjoy have very rewarding coupon codes, too. Payday is next week. ;)

If Smokeless Image had been around before my mother died, she would still be alive today. She loved gadgetry and bling, and having a Volt in her favorite color (green) with a diamond tip and a cartomizer filled brimming with pear or huckleberry or cantaloupe or strawberry or butterscotch or dragon fruit, and still having the 40 year ritual in her hand without the smoke and tar and cancer... she'd have out lived me on my quest to be 120. And, she would have spent just as much - if not more - to help her friends and family and perfectly good strangers, too.

Hm. I guess it all comes down to the fact that I'm selfish, and selfish is expensive. I don't ever want to lose anyone to tobacco related cancer again. I wouldn't even wish it on my worst enemy, and I have a few.

My mother's favorite poem was Abu Ben Ahdem. Please read it to know my mother. But please keep coming here to ECF to know me and know I am honored to be in your company.

I just found this information. Sounds like I may have been kidding myself that I would save money. However, we pay an extra $200/mo in health insurance because of my smoking. I haven't talked to Blue Cross/Blue Shield about getting that taken off and whether or not I qualify as a non-smoker if I'm still getting nicotine. I know I have to be a non smoker for a year before they will remove that extra charge.

Sorry to break it to you, but you almost certainly won't get a discount. If you tell them the nicotine is from a patch, they won't buy it because you're not supposed to use a patch for that long. They really don't have any way to verify that you didn't quit smoking last week. If you tell them you're a non-smoker, you might get the discount, (if they don't bother to test you), but if you ever have a claim, they'll nail you and likely deny it, even if it isn't any kind of smoking related issue. I spent many years as a health ins. agent, so I know how these vultures operate. You could get lucky if they don't test you right away, but if you go that route and have any kind of significant illness you'll be screwed. They have people who do nothing else but pore through your application and your medical records looking for reasons to deny large claims. It's called rescission and they do it all the time.

Some (very few) life insurance companies will accept a vaper as a non-smoker, but I'm not aware of any health insurance companies that do. The best thing to do is ask them and if they tell you it's o.k., make sure it's in your policy or get it written in as a rider. Don't take anyone's word for it because their word is worth the paper it's printed on.

If you want to save money vaping, buy your supplies straight from China and learn how to make your own juice. Wizardlabs.us has nicotine solution and all the supplies you need incredibly cheap. My juice costs me about $0.03-$0.05 per ml.

Kia, what you are doing is above what any normal person would do - I admire you for it... I actually am doing the loaner also - I got the idea from you, but I will admit I have not taken it to the extent that you have. To date I have gotten 3 converters and I am working on one now. I normally loan one battery with three carts (DIY refills) just to let them have a feel for a few days. I also supply them with an SI card...

I've been vaping and completely tobacco free for about 105 days. Considering I smoked around a pack of analogs per day and paid about $5 a pack, I would've spent $525 on cigs in that time. I've spent just about $500 on vaping, $200 of which was spent unnecessarily on a starter kit and extra batteries that I don't even use anymore. Right now, I have enough supplies to last me another 2 months or so, at which point I'll need to spend MAYBE $100 for an additional 3 months worth of stuff. I'd say that in the long run, it's going to be MUCH cheaper for me.

it is not more expensive, you just smoked too less :)

i hit my breakeven point right after the first week with just an ego-t set and 3 bottles of liquid.
Now vaping has become a pretty nice hobby for me and it got more expensive ...

but on the other hand i paid appx 10€ a day for smoking for over 20 years ... no i dont even want to know how expensive that was ....

Yeah. I bought 2 KGO kits, Icon v1.1 plus accessories, glass graduated cylinders, bin boxes, multiple assortments of adapters cartos, mega cartos, drip tips, glass bottles, syringes, tanks, 510 extensions, atomizers, nic, PG, VG, about 35 flavors, ... the list goes on. Saved about $100 in analogs, but invested over $1000 in vaping stuff.

Spent over $500 in kits, accessories and mostly juices within little over a month, throwing out one bad juice after another, down to a few juice flavors to carry me throughout the day... But I can sure breathe better in the mornings and don't smell like ashtrays... Savings will eventually come last... The health part is ALOT more important, at least in my opinion

When the wife & I started in jan we ordered kits from uecigarette in China. The tracking number didn't work & the kits never did arrive. I opened the paypal dispute 44 days in & got a refund as I had spent over £70 ($100 ). However as we were waiting on that order we bought cheap e-cigs from uk vendors. When we knew the order was never to arrive I bought a lavatube & an ego battery for the wife at work. I adapted a charger to charge the battery (don't panic, I am qualified in electronics). I built mods with 510 connectors to use clearmisers with. Then the wife confiscated my lavatube & she now uses her ego for work & MY lavatube at home. I wanted to become completely independent from e-cig related devices as they make them for cents & sell for many $ or £. So I bought a Bulli repairable atomiser. I mix my own juice for me & the wife so the only thing I realy need to buy "for the wife" is her clearmisers from China. So vaping costs us a small fraction of the cost of smoking. But for those who spend out on the latest mods that they do not need, their expenditure has nothing to do with vaping as if they were not vaping they would be spending the money on other things. I posted a thread on UKV (before the geeks hacked it) showing people how they could build a box mod for under £5 ($8) & also put links for all the parts. Several have already ordered the parts & will soon have a VV box mod at a modest cost & a few hours of their time. Ofcourse there are those who are unable to build one as their skills are in other areas or they simply don't have the time in this fast moving world. Not a prob as I have agreed to build a few more & list them at an affordable price on the forum. Whilst mod makers can make mods at an affordable cost, many people want them to make designer mods, which ofcourse increases the time involved & ofcourse the price. So vaping can be as cheap or expensive as you want (or need) it to be.

Seems to me trying to accurately evaluate the "cost of vaping" is sort of pointless. Better, I think, would be to start at the other end and consider the "value of vaping". After all, when I spend money on anything I've never actually seen or touched, never test-driven, tasted or whatever, part of what I'm buying is the thrill of the bet. I'm betting my money on my ability to discern this gadget will perform as advertised. Now it either will or it won't... or more likely, it'll fall somewhere between the seller's claims & utter worthlessness. So when I receive the item & try it out, however it goes I'll get the 2nd thing I paid for:

A lesson. Looking back I realize now that a percentage of every dollar I ever spent bought a lesson. If I ignored the lesson I am poorer for my ignorance, so these days I try to get my money's worth. But that money I "wasted" on my first overpriced, junk PV? It wasn't wasted at all, just an expensive lesson. Education does not come cheaply.

My point to all this is IMO if we allow ourselves to be more concerned about the cost than we are about the *overall value*, of vaping or anything else in life, we tend to overlook so many of life's little daily benefits that keep the whole thing fun. Back when I was a scorekeeper all I could see what the cost, & there was never enough to cover it. But then I looked around and everyone I saw was a scorekeeper too, & I realized: Life doesn't *need* more scorekeepers, it needs more Players!

Playing's a lot more fun, and it doesn't have to cost a fortune. Happy Vaping! :vapor:
