If it's just about saving money then go to rolling tobacco but it's not, about our future health and staying of the cigarettes. I've only been off ciggies for 10 weeks but feel so much better now than I did ... and yes I've spent more but still finding my feet and experimenting to find out what does me best.

It is a hobby of sorts (well I'm a little obsessive) and who knew that there were so many different types batteries out there!!! Plus learning ohms law!!! So you're learning as well (ha, ha).

As long as I don't go back to smoking everything else is secondary, even if I do end up spending just as much on PVs, batteries and Juices ....

I'll shut up now ;)

The important part right now is you've kicked the stinkies to the curb and although initial start-up costs are expensive there are ways to economize. I DIY and costs for carto and juice is about $1.50? per week. My advice is to research all your buys and wait for sales. At Christmas I bought 3 X 1100 mah Kgo type starter kits for $20.00 each- regular price was $45.00.
Happy Vaping.
P.S. My initial start up cost was $600.00 but had enough stuff to last easily 1 yr+

 I have update my signature bit with the how much I have saved by not smoking....

So far I have saved £22.71 Which is great news.....but

....I have spent £285.15 on vaping. I only started on Monday.

My bank account is dreading me stopping smoking for a month

My bank manager will be phoning me after 3 months...have not even considered mods at this stage

I was spending $300 - $360 per month on smoking. I honestly can't see me continuing to spend that much on vaping, so sooner or later I'll be in the green.

I've already gotten a Provari, so once I settle on a few "staple" juices or find that oh so elusive magical DiY recipe, I'm sure I'll start enjoying a pretty decent financial benefit as well.

That's the way to do it... find a device and juice that works and stay with it.

Although there's nothing wrong with splurging every once and awhile.

... I also bought a pass through system, which I love.

Please tell us more about the pass through system you love.

I agree that once you find the system of vapor delivery and the e juice at the Nic level that works for you, not anyone else, then your cost becomes maintenance and replacement components.

As to cost of vaping and smoking. My wife and I did a calculation that ran backward, using very conservative numbers. The results were devastating.

... Wher I live, they are taxing the heck out of ciggys and they cost about $9 per pack for brand names... Ouchy! I was rolling my own before I found vaping. I'm broke right now as I bought an ego kit at retail. But, I did get in on a really good sale, so I have enough juice here to last maybe 6 months! I don't even have to spend another penny!

Same here although the taxing of tobacco sent our roll your own costs through the roof. We started using the "pipe cut" cig tobacco. Still doubled our cost. We quit cigs just after spending $111 on tobacco.

Now I have 20 boxes of tubes, two injection machines, 14 plastic cig boxes, 5 ea 14 oz bags of tobacco. About $240 of stuff I am never using again.

Vaping is the best investment I have every made.

I started in Jan & it hardly costs me anything now. I made my own vv box mod for under £5 (or under $8) I mix my own juice & have litres of the stuff. I also invested in a Bulli atomiser, mesh, wire & wick is cheap. The only thing I buy is clearmisers for the wife who also started vaping in Jan. However I buy them in lots of 20 from China. .

Sir, please make a post telling us about your VV Box, how you might make your own attty.
Seriously, it would very helpful.

Here's the "Bulli" rebuildable atomizer he mentioned to give you an idea of how it works. Appears to be available in Europe. There's also the Genesis and Zenesis here in the US that are similar. But they always seem to be out of stock. :(

Once I have a Pro-Vari, A Golden Greek with an Odysiuss, and sometanks from Phiniac I will be sorted and the expence will be over.......my a*se lol.
I am just a sucker for shiny, gadget, tech, boge, kanger........
It is not a smoking addiction as much as a hobby. I never went on a forum for people who rolled their own!
I am currently wondering how much cash I can get together before the Midlands Mini Meet on the 19th and then Vapefest 2012 cos I just know I am going to fall in love with a Touchwood (forgot to add tha to this first list of "wants") lol:D

I suspect rebuilding attys is where the e-cig industry is going, but can you imagine how this will impact vendors? US vendors are making huge margin by selling attys for $7+ dollars an atty. When you can replace just the wire and wick I doubt US vendors will be carrying these any time soon.

It may be end up being more expensive in the long run but the cost will be more justified in positive effects it will have on your health and lifestyle!

Vape On!
That's what I keep telling myself. My debit card is ...... at me, if my husband would add up all I spent so far, he'd probably wanna kill me, but I'm loving it and enjoying vaping. Will now get into mixing my own juices, hopefully that will be cheaper..... The pre-mixed juice prices are killing my bank account... LOL!

If I knew then what I know now, I'd be way ahead on the costs. Unfortunately, I got bit by the "try everything" bug and now have stuff I only use occasionally for the nostalgia. Not to mention the forty odd bottles of juice that seemed rock-n-roll at the time but have been pushed to the back by my current 6 favorites. Still, will break even at about the 180 day mark (trying not to buy anything till then).

Finding e-cigs is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. My dad died many years ago due to lung cancer. How I decided it was ok for me to smoke is beyond me to this day. But I decided it would not happen to me. I smoked because I enjoyed smoking. It started out as something to do to hang out with the girls on breaks in school when I was 18 years old, but later on, I really enjoyed it.

Recently, my doctor told me I had emphasema. I cannot stand to say that word, so I tell people I have COPD. I was getting major bronchitus every month or so and breathing became a real trial. I could not walk to the kitchen without being out of breath. I could not sleep because I would wake up gasping for air. I have always been a semi active person, but have been in bad health for past few years. I was diagnosed with fibromialga a year ago and have serious problems with a back injury. This was the last straw for what it took for me to start seeing the end of my life. Not a fun prospect.

I was basically not even looking for answers to my smoking that day. I was puffing along, counting my cigarettes, trying to taper down. I was cruising the internet and I saw an add for e-cigarettes. At first I was just mildly curious but by the time I had finished researching (for that day) I was excited. The next day, I did the same only this time, I decided to go for it. If it didn't work, I would be out a hundred dollars or so, but if it did........

Well, they do work! I haven't had a conventional cigarette in nearly a month and what is better, I have not wanted one. I had one or two the week after I started and nearly threw up they were so nasty. I am able to sleep. I am able to breath! Not sure what kind of price you could put on that. :) I am happier and less depressed. My kids are proud of me. My husband decided after tasting mine, that he was going to switch also and he did. We live in a smoke free home now. My hair and clothing smells nice, like a lady's clothing and hair should. Our babies (two cats) are happier and have ceased to have allergies. How wonderful is that? There are so many good things about this change, I cannot think of all of them.

I figured out that I have spent somewhere in the neighborhood of $57,000 making myself sick smoking cigarettes. I think I will spend a little on making myself well.

I don't have a lot of money. I live on a fixed income, so I have to be a little bit careful. But I am about to graduate from the little batteries, (they aren't holding up well) and I want the volt x2 with the passthru, and want to try some more flavors. I really love coconut and peaches. LoL who ever thought vaping could taste so good. I have also cut down on snacks because I am satisfied with my vaping. I have lost 6 pounds.

I have never joined a forum like this before. I love it here. If nothing else, vaping has brought me to a place where there are some truly wonderful people. A place where, I believe, I can be at home.

Besides all of that. Vaping is fun! I can see where people would see this as a hobby. When you have been addicted to a nasty habit that has made you the lowest rung of society, it is FUN to be able to not only get away from it, but to do something that is enjoyable and where you can put your personality into it.
Blessings
