Rick is taking very good care of me :)
I am tired and am thinking about just laying down but want to wait to take an Aleve at 10pm. Half an hour to go
No, I did not want pain meds. That is why I am able to be home so soon. I only took the pain meds to get to sleep and did not take them during the day. My doctor was surprised and said in his 30 years of doing this, I was the first one that didn't take any pain meds after surgery. I didn't have a say that first night and was happy to have them right after. During the day though? Nope. If the pain had been greater than I could tolerate, yes I would have resorted to them. In fact, the doctor had to talk me into them for night time. I can be stubborn that way.

Today when we talked about me going home today, he stated that the way I was able to function, bodily and mobility, was the way all his other patients functioned at day 5. He said that pain meds slowed down the colon's ability to get back to business. By me not taking them all the time, I actually helped my recovery happen faster. Which was my whole intent. I know that about my body. I also walked A LOT to keep things moving around in there. I also knew that I had to sleep in order for me to heal, so I gave in to the pain meds at night.

He wanted to give me 75mg of Demerol, I wanted only 25mg. When the nurse came with the vial, I guess we compromised at 50mg  Sneaky doctor ;)

Yeah I have pain but it is manageable. If the Aleve doesn't allow me to get a good sleep, I might call him to call in an order. I really don't want to though. Each night should get better as my recovery goes along. I want to be better faster and this way works for me. :)

Wow Robin!
I did see you mention that, you must have a really high pain threshold :)

I hope you sleep well tonight for sure

I never thought I did  but I guess I do!

I have to admit, this was easier than my gallbladder removal operation though. That HURT a LOT more. Probably because it was in such bad shape before the operation.

It's done, I will deal and move on and I am a Survivor! :w00t:

That's great Robin! I'm happy your recovery is going so well & you're doing it without pain meds! Wow! You go girl! But it may be a good idea to have them at night just incase you need them. I bet it feels great to be at home though. Sleeping in your own bed & just being in your own surroundings has to be great!
