Oh no dale! A waffling husband is never good! ;) I hope it works out the way you want it to.
Our septic is about 25 years old and was just great... until now. :glare:

Oh Lori... I'm sorry you've had to go through this kind of thing, too. They're telling us it's going to cost $15,000 to $20,000. We're hoping they'll let us do some of the work ourselves to knock that down a bit.
And yeah... fire is a major concern here. The forest service is closing the mountain tomorrow at 8am. They'll put a road block just past my house (we're the last house before national forest.) It's scary to have it this bad.

Thanks! I keep finding myself looking at those to remember how green and pretty it was here. That folder has lots of pics of the beginning of my Shire. I haven't even had the heart to clean it up yet this year. I have a feeling it's going to be torn up too, to get equipment around to the front yard. :(

Oh a brighter note, I suppose you saw this little guy. (Grandson #5) Sheesh... could you deny this face anything??? Of course grandmama will buy you your own car! Anything you want lovey!:lol::lol:

    Morning Charm & GG!!

Wow Kayte, I think what we may have had to have installed was going to be $7000.00. But our tank ended up still being good, so we only had to redo lines. We used an infiltrator system. Their site is infiltratorsystems dot com. What we used is basically what they are now calling the Quick4 Equalizer® 36 StraightLock Chamber. I think. But we were able to do it ourselves. You can probably rent a mini excavator, but it still won't be cheap, hauling is what isn't cheap. Again, we were very lucky to have access to all that, but we did have to pay for hauling, and hubby ran/operated it. Anyhoodles, just thought I'd pass on the info in case it helps in any way.

Yeah, no doo doo on the fire danger!!

It wasn't a bacteria thing, it was a tree root thing for us. Usually the tanks fail only if they rust and collapse. I've heard of people in our area replacing them literally under the cover of DARKNESS to keep from having to put in the new aeration systems. Sort of a septic tank black market....

OMG - Kayte WHAT A HEARTBREAKER HE'S GOING TO BE!!!

Yes, we had lots of trees too, and we couldn't extended it because the old lines were completely root bound we found out.:( What a mess that was until we got it all sorted out and fixed!! I hope we never have to go through that again...we're on sewer here, and the lake should be good to go for MANY years to come, especially since we go on weekends, when we do go, so it really gets very little use now.

He truly is. Possibly one of the cutest little boys I've seen.

Thanks Lori! I'll definitely look into that. :)
    Hope it helps.

One other thing if you do attempt to DIY that project. DH did buy a laser leveler/grade thingie (DeWalt brand at Lowes). It wasn't cheap, but when we were doing ours, DH said that if you don't make sure it's graded properly the doo doo isn't going to flow correctly and no way was he digging up the yard again. Besides, he looked on eBay (at the time) and they were selling at near purchase price, so he said he can always sell it later, but that it was a good thing to have if you ever needed to do landscaping stuff.
