those pics give me some serious Cali envy ... I can't imagine that anywhere on the east coast ...

"I think I will go get a coffee downstairs...I'll take the slide today and play some Guitar Hero..."

No really, Google is a cool company and I am sure they put it lots of hours... nice to see an employer treat their employees as more than drones.

I'm gonna bet that it is the opposite of MegaHard... I used to work for them and they fed you well and had walls full of sodas, redbull anything you wanted to keep you from leaving the building. If not it is probably another tech biz

Did they provide a toilet seat instead of a desk chair too? lol!

Gotta say it, my dream job is now working for Google. (Probably as the receptionist, considering I doubt my Paramedicine training would get me very far..). But, then I realized I'd probably just shame my family and the good folks on ECF by getting fired for never being at my desk, just on that silver tube slide.

And playing Guitar Hero..

I'm basing this strictly on the assumption that even GOOGLE would frown on that...

Well you never know - maybe they need someone to resuscitate employees from "google benefit" induced delirium:)

My hubby was *sortof* being recruited by Google (a long, silly story ) and it's true that their benefits are incredible. But, as I recall, the actual salary wasn't, for lack of a better word, super-dooper. They do have a great program for employee referrals. Meaning, if you work there and give them a heads-up on a talented worker who ends up working there also, you would get a bonus. Kindof neat. Keeps things competitive and fresh by constantly encouraging a search for new talent. Timing just didn't work out for us, so the process never went too far. Maybe someday... :)

I couldn't find the 2010 list but the 2009 list looks very different

Top companies: Biggest
BY MARKET VALUE

Rank Company 500 Rank 3/27/2009
($ millions)
1 Exxon Mobil 1 345,815.3
2 Wal-Mart Stores 2 205,817.8
3 Microsoft 35 161,185.9
4 AT&T 8 153,226.0
5 Johnson & Johnson 29 146,117.4
6 Procter & Gamble 20 142,350.3
7 Berkshire Hathaway 13 138,790.4
8 Chevron 3 138,114.1
9 International Business Machines 14 126,319.0
10 General Electric 5 113,841.4
11 Google 117 109,627.

Google is 11... lol ... maybe it is MicroSoft! It would be funnier if it were Proctor and Gamble though ...

Maybe Warren Buffet has taking up vaping whilst he counts his billions...

who knows?

How is it a random post on the forum (that doesn't even provide any proof) makes it to the "breaking news" ticker at the top?

This is the last time I click on any links up there.

Most likely because SJ was just grabbing things to link to while he was trying to set it up today?

Doesn't take much to make people jaded around here, does it? :p

Lol. I'm sure you meant MacroHard...

Microsoft does sound like a great company to work for, and they sound the most likely of the 10 largest companies to allow vaping.

Here is a bit of news that people here might find encouraging: One of the 10 largest companies in the United States is now allowing its employees to vape at their desks, and they are doing so in very large numbers. I cannot disclose the name of the company, but I can say that everybody here would instantly recognize the name.

The pure business case for allowing employees to vape at their desks (potential reduction in healthcare costs related to employee smoking; perceived productivity increase due to reduction or elimination of smoke breaks; enhanced cognition; improved morale among [now] ex-smokers and coworkers that disliked the lingering smell of cigarette smoke; increased ability to cope with work-related stress) is so compelling that this isn't surprising, and is an encouraging trend that is gaining momentum.

Maybe in addition to allowing it, forward thinking companies will join the fight for our (vapers) rights once they realize how beneficial vaping vs. smoking is for them? I tell ya, nowadays I can hardly stand the way my husband smells when he has just smoked an analog, and that smell is waay down the list of vaping benefits for companies.

i told my general manager before i started vaping. he gave me his blessing. i have since converted 2 smokers. i work at a small auto dealership. and i don't have to go outside to smoke vape anymore. i can absolutely see work productivity increasing.

i appeal to everyone, ask your employers about vaping. the more the merrier. and don't get angry IF they refuse, it is after all their choice. inform them of the TRUTH. so they can make an informed decision.

I'm in a small to med. size company and we can vape at our desks. I am the General Mgr, so I was biased. The owner doesn't mind. He will often call me in his office when he has business visitors to show them my PV and how it works. He has never smoked in his life. One of the girls in the office is starting to vape.
