Good Morning Major!
Our recent discussion of fights and fighting made me wonder what some boxers had to say about it. It's surprising how many themes have been discussed across this forum that relate to these quotations from famous Boxers. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did discovering them and find in them, as I did, a few energy points for when the fray is at its height!
"The hero and the coward both feel the same thing, but the hero uses his fear, projects it onto his opponent, while the coward runs. It's the same thing, fear, but it's what you do with it that matters."
Cus D'Amato
"Getting hit motivates me. It makes me punish the guy more. A fighter takes a punch, hits back with
three punches."
Roberto Duran
"Rhythm is everything in boxing. Every move you make starts with your heart, and that's in rhythm or you're in trouble."
Sugar Ray Robinson
"To see a man beaten not by a better opponent but by himself is a tragedy."
Cus D'Amato
This last one seemed to effect me with the all the power of a right handed haymaker for some reason:
Sure the fight was fixed. I fixed it with a right hand.
-George Foreman
