I stayed there until morning light but due to the tropical weather system, no sunrise, just light. I had to thank God right then and there for what I have been blessed with simply being alive.Good Morning/Day/Evening to you all!I hope you all had a restful and/or enjoyable weekend. I certainly did!
My wife has told me for our whole lives that I am not spontaneous enough. I do tend to like things all organized and the like but I caught her a bit off guard Sunday evening around 11:00PM local time. We had just finished watching the news and I asked her what she thought about a picnic.
She said sure, sounds great so I said, "Let's go!" When she began to tell me what she needed to do today and how it would be difficult I said, no, I mean right now. She allowed that I must have a fever but I convinced her that we needed to go by Taco Bell, grab a dozen or so of those Dorito shelled tacos and hit the beach.
There has always been something about tropical weather that has drawn me to the beach. My wife is not even a social drinker but will have an occasional glass of white zinfandel so even though I can't drink anything alcoholic I thought carrying a bottle might make her a bit more at ease.
We landed on the beach at around midnight with the tacos, zinfandel, a couple of smartphones and a blanket. The cool sea winds pushed the heavy, salty air around and despite a storm (Isaac) in the Gulf, it was beautiful. After an uncharacteristic 3rd glass of zinfandel, she was off chasing down small white fiddler crabs around the waters edge I remarked to her I hadn't seen her so bouncy since her dancing days.\
We were the only ones visible on the beach in either direction so courtesy of "our" music via one of my Pandora channels, she danced. Not too long but enough for me to see again the girl within that I have been blessed to share my life with. Of course at our ages, it doesn't take long to get winded and she did but not before curling up next to me.
In no time she was out like a light and I took great care to not awaken her as she slept and I ate a bag of tacos!I stayed there until morning light but due to the tropical weather system, no sunrise, just light. I had to thank God right then and there for what I have been blessed with simply being alive.
Sure there was the fight to get back to the car and get back home but it was a great night and a great memory. I can't say I'll ever be spontaneous by nature but at least for this occasion, spontaneity was the author of a great time with the girl I love. It sounds so simple yet fulfilling that I had to share.
Hope everyone has a great week and thank you again for your support!
