I've tried various methods to make my own 901 filler material, and what I've found that works best was taken from someone else and modified slightly. My apologies to the originator of this method that I don't recall her name.

This is what I did:
1. Cut a 7/8" length from a 3/16" diameter plastic straw. Cut 2 small V-shaped notches in one end of the straw.
2. Open up a Luzianne family sized teabag and cut a strip of the paper to 7" x 7/8".
3. Wind the strip of paper around a toothpick. Wind it near the end of the toothpick so that about 1/4" of the paper is beyond the end of the toothpick. Wind it fairly tight and keep it as straight as you can. I used a square-cut toothpick.
4. Slide the wound paper off the toothpick and insert it into the straw. One end of the paper roll will be more tightly wound than the other, and that end goes in first.
5. Push the paper roll so that it extends slightly beyond the notched end of the straw and trim the end of the paper roll evenly with scissors. Push it back into the straw so that it is even with the notched end of the straw.
6. Insert the straw+paper into a cartridge as far as it will go, notched end first. It should be a snug fit. Note carefully how much of the straw+paper extends beyond the open end of the cartridge. Pull out the straw+paper slightly and trim the straw+paper tube so that the end of it will be just a fraction lower than the end of the cartridge once it is pushed back in. Not by much though...I trim mine so it is about 1/32" to 1/16" from the end of the cartridge.

These things last a long time, well over a week for a heavy vaping guy like myself. I've never tasted anything strange coming from it and you'll never get fibers tangled up in the heating element. It takes about 12 drops to initially fill it, and then 5 drops or so to top it off as you go. It does absorb the liquid just a bit slower than the stock filler, but the other advantages outweigh this minor inconvenience.

I saw a few folks posting the teabags work well and are more helpth friendly so going to give it a go myself. papertowl was heavily suggested. I like the straw trick will give that a shot this afternoon. thanks for the detailed review on it, made it easy enough for me, thanks
