Ugh... Guess they saw the sucker coming when they saw me. Lol. I hope this POS I bought is SUFFICIENT for a while at least. I would hate to flush the $100 down the drain. With so many different interchangeable parts constantly needing to be replaced, I am starting to get worried that I am going to be spending more vaping than I was with analogs and money was part of the motivation to transition.

I mean is it really necessary to have 2 batteries, several tanks, different heads, coil replacements ect ect ect? I have a battery and a tank. That's it. What do I need to buy to complete my setup?

I would say whatever you used to spend per month on cigarettes, budget to spend HALF of that per month towards vaping instead.

Once you find your settledown hardware, you will end up spending only 10% per month what you used to spend on cigarettes.

How long that takes you is up to you, but I figure on average 6 months to a year.

Asking here first on ECF does $save$ though!

I feel like I might have rushed into this. I have already spent as much as I would on cigarettes for the month just getting the kit. And from the sound of it I don't even have enough equipment to thoroughly enjoy vaping. I probably should have done more research before making any purchases but I was in a rush to get off the cigs. Feeling pretty discouraged that it seems I haven't done anything but waste money up to this point.

Maybe I will take a month to just read and research here and then give it another go.

Yep that's a good way to go.

You already have your first tank to start off with, so once that keeps you off the cigarettes for a month you can plan ahead for next month to figure out what you want to get for backup.

Hi there! I thought I would give you the newb perspective to maybe help assuage some of your concerns. First, don't fret so much over all the info yes, there's a lot but it eventually falls into place. I spent the first two days panicked with all the choices. Second, try and see this for what it is to so many of us on here, not just a vehicle to stop smoking but also a fun hobby. The reason there is so much of a choice is that you can personalize, you can make the search for the perfect juice, set-up, mod, whatever, fun. Relax, take it slowly, and remember there is no one right or "best" anything. You will find what works for you. I highly recommend watching youtube videos. They have reviews for gear, juices, tutorials... some may be over your head at first but trust me, it makes sense eventually. I have been vaping since Christmas day. and now a week or so later, I'm loving the experience. Oh, and I smoked 2+ packs a day for a little over 30 years. And and I wasn't looking to quit, I was given my set-up as a Christmas gift. This forum is great, so many folks who want to help and share their vast knowledge. I started with an ego c-twist battery and a kanger t3s clearomizer. That combo works great. Also, many of the great juices out there will have to be ordered online, don't worry about that either, its usually fast, and shipping costs for juice are not so bad. Don't give up, it is amazing how much better I can breathe after only one week. This does work. Good Luck to you

Problem is I cant really use the tank that I have. The liquid I have is horrible. If I smoke it again it will probably turn me off for good. The pen gurgles when I press the button which probably isn't good. So essentially I will just be putting the vape away for a month. Basically using the thing is a nightmare and I am only using a disposable for now which I can not sustain financially for long. I am worried that I will just return to the sticks if I cant find something that works well soon.

This is a humbling experience... I really feel like I am out of my league even though I consider myself to be rather smart. In my mind it seems like you are all a bunch of scientists. I guess I am just not ready. :(

Welcome Riley.

Edison spent a lot of money, effort and time on light bulb designs that didn't work before he found one that did. (I've done the same with women but that's another story.) That $100 got you on the right path. As you travel along, that path may twist and turn and sometimes you may double back. At some point you will find what you like and, more importantly, what works for you. When that happens, if you are like many of us here, then begins the quest for BETTER!

Thank you for the encouragement and congratulations on quitting smoking! I think I just got way ahead of myself. I was psyched to quit smoking so ran out and made purchases hoping to be able to just pour in some liquid and enjoy. Now I am out $100 and cant stand to use the stupid thing. I am kind of stuck.

I think it is awesome that vaping develops into a hobby for so many people. I think that is an added bonus because I don't really have many hobbies. It would be nice to vape for enjoyment not just for craving replacement. For now, I am just going to dive into the troves of knowledge contained here and try again at a later time.

You are ready and you are in the right place.

You got the tank, now you just need a good enough eliquid.

So for starters: you can get some glycerin from the pharmacy: USP Grade glycerin. This is called VG around here, and try adding some of that to some of your eliquid and see if that tastes better.

And yes, it's supposed to gurgle - that tells you it is working so gurgling or a popping sound is GOOD.

Yeah I hear ya. He also did a lot more research regarding electricity than I did in regards to vaping so I suppose I deserved to fail this time.

From the abbreviations stickie...

Cartomizer - An atomizer built into the cartridge, marketed as disposable (you throw it away when the e-liquid is used up).

My cartomizer is polluted with a liquid that is absolutely revolting. Am I going to have to buy a new cartomizer?!? The guy at the store (smokeshop) said they were refillable.

The vapor-x you have is actually a clearomiser; you should be able to drain the liquid out;

if the bottom does not unscrew out, then I guess it will have to drain out from the top.

I hear you on the money saving... what you have to keep in mind is that health is the main motivator, money is just the added benefit. If its the other way around, I dont know that someone will be successful.

I have only started saving $$ in the past couple weeks after MANY failed attempts at equipment and juice that either flat out sucked or was sub-par... it takes time. Be patient, ask questions, and read/watch reviews.

If you can, I would grab an eGo twist, charger, mini tank, and juice from a local shop... the eGo etc shouldnt run more than $50 or so, I will paste some links to what I'm talking about below... good luck and hang in there!

eGo Twist

eGo Charger and Wall Wart

Mini Pro Tank

Replacement Coils

You sir, are a true gentleman, and I thank you for sharing your wisdom.

We call it PIF (Pay It Forward) around here; after 30 years of smoking and a month in hospital last year, I discovered ecigs and ended up here and learned alot here, so I'm doing my time paying it forward to the next guy.

Stopped by a local B&M on my way home from work today...

Was told that the clearomizer that I have is disposable and not possible to clean. So I will have to throw it out and get a new one. That sucks... I don't want to have to use a new tank for every new flavor. Is that the norm?

That clearo that you have is certainly still usefull, don't through it out;
and although you might not be able to change the coils, you should be able to leave it to soak in hot water or alcohol or vinegar to give it a clean out if the coil is gunked up.

When I started I .. actually I guess I started with disposables, but when I trying to get non disposables, I got the eGo-C type, and I never did use those tanks; then I got a couple V-nano, which I found good, but they are similar to the one you have in the sense that you can't change out the head, so after 3 months I am finding now I might have to throw 1 out or maybe it will recover if I give it a cleaning - I keep cubantobacco flavor in those. Then I got a couple CE4 types like the type you have- I never used those- I kept using V-nanos and the disposables, then I ended up geting a bottom coil clearo plastic tank and found I could use that more; (the v-nanos are small and I had to refill once or twice a day).

So I was using that bottom coil clearo for a while and decided to get another one, then a third one, and around that time I happened to get a protank type; and at that point, I dropped the plastic tanks cold. (well except for the v-nanos cause that had my cuban cigar nicotine blend which I might just take an occasional pull on).

After another couple months I got 3 more of the protank types and that's my workhorse now.

So don't be discouraged; keep a few disposables available until you settle into some decent tanks and batteries.

By the way if you vape sitting at home near a usb port you might want to get couple of these and $save$ on batteries:

Thanks again Edyle.

I think I am going to end up starting from scratch. I found out that this stupid Vapor-X doesn't use a standard threading pattern. It is close to the 510 but not quite. It's pretty ridiculous.

Oh; I was wondering about that 601 thing;

Well you might as well use the heck out of it while it works .
