About 20 years ago I quit smoking and slowly started showing symptoms of Manic Depression. Through the years I tried just about every drug for the symptoms. Then about a year ago I started dating a smoker. Around that time I quit taking all my drugs for my problem. Of course my symptoms were as bad as ever. But I would smoke a cig on occasion with the GF when she'd smoke. I noticed my symptoms would mellow out during those times. Thats when I did some searching on the internet and found some studies confirming my suspicions. Well you guessed it, I started vaping and My symptoms subsided to a controllable level.

Well it has been 6 months and I'm doing great, I can still feel the Manic Depression but the peaks and lows are minimal and easy to deal with.

Anyone else out there with similar experiences?

I have been smoking for say 5 years now only. I noticed if you are depressed it does help keep your mind off of things. Its weird. Whenever I was upset or flustered, a cig is what would calm me down and make me think differently. I'm about to order a volt premium kit because I gave up analogs for 2 days for ecigs. Started with a knock off ecig from walmart that I have been using since Sunday with the same cartridge..lol I can't even tell if it is done becuase a new cart tastes the same.

but I am sure there was some research on this subject.
Actually there has been a lot of research on the subject, but
Unfortunately, since there is no drug company patent on nicotine

I was like 13 when I discovered that if I swiped one of my dad's cigarettes I could make the Tourette's ticks go away. That was 57 years ago, and nicotine is still how I control the symptoms.

I actually read somewhere (don't remember where... Was a week or two ago) that vaping can cause depression or make your depression worse! Funny thing is, I have pretty severe depression (but don't take medication currently) and since I started vaping I've had a noticeable increase in my mood! I think it has to do with the fact that I'm not so self-conscious anymore about smelling like an ashtray. I love vaping and it's doing wonderful things for me:)

Similar experience here. I've been diagnosed with various mood disorders including depression and bipolar disorder (A.K.A.manic depression). Awhile back, I quit smoking for four months using no nic-replacement products. My usually mild depression deepened considerably, eventually leading to suicidal ideation (which I'd never before experienced). I made a conscious decision to begin smoking again and those symptoms were alleviated.

I quit smoking again on 11/15/2010 using the gum and 150mg / day of Bupropion (generic of Wellbutrin and Xyban) and all is well.
