Granted, I'm an old retired guy, but I love FB. Over the years, I have family and friends scattered all over the country, and I find FB to be a great way to stay in touch. It all boils down to who you pick as friends, and who you accept friend requests from. Seek out crazy, and you'll find crazy. Like anything else, FB is whatever you want it to be.

Is it me ? I see a video on FB of a gal sticking her drip tip up here nose to vape and then call it a challenge. Am I just too old to understand the purpose of doing so?

IMO it's the stuff like that making everyone look at the vaping community as strange.Which of course is what feeds the fire to those that don't understand. I don't get it maybe I'm just too old t understand.
I think FB and youtube are filled with lonely young people just looking for a little attention and doing weird things to get it. technology is great but I think it has caused many people to lose basic social skills. what is normal to us old geezers like looking someone in the eye and talking face to face or reading a story and seeing it in our minds seems very foreign to many young people. on many occasions when trying to tell someone how to do something they told me to draw them a picture. they could not visualize it in their minds. I sometimes think technology is turning us into a society of mindless cyborgs

I could see this being useful if you had just had some teeth pulled and needed your nicotine. Doing it for grins a giggles is pointless and a bit gross. Now a true challenge would be smoking a real cigarette through your nose! Perhaps a dual user can try both and report back?:p

While I have a strong dislike for generic Facebookism, the service does have some merit. While traveling, I've found that the easiest-to-establish line of communication is FB. Various instant messenger services seems to be somewhat regional; but Facebook is truly global. So, I resurrected an old, dormant account. As you say; it is what you want it to be. A tool for needy narcissism - or just a tool for keeping in touch. As with all tools. It's just a tool.

That must be difficult if you have a really large wide bore drip tip.

Getting that up your nose can't be easy.

I'm even older than @Rule62 and haven't needed FB - yet, and gave up challenges in my youth. Have been forced into nose-vaping twice now (nostrils make it sound umm, kind of icky), once as mentioned above when a molar got pulled and another time when I had Bell's palsy :( and my lips wouldn't close round the drip-tip. It works but was happy to get back to 'normal'
By the way, when nose-vaping you really need to cut down on the nic

Do you know what sucks worse than Bells Palsy?

Bilateral Bells Palsy. Having both sides of your face paralyzed at the same time. It's extremely rare, even among people with Bells Palsy. Only about 400 cases in the US per year. More people win the lottery than get Bilateral Bells Palsy.

Now ask me how I know.

I agree. I'm not a heavy user but it lets me keep touch with far flung family and friends.

I have never understood people complaining about Facebook weirdo's. FB is just a software that connects you with the family and friends of your choice. If your feed is full of whacko's that tells us more about your family and friends then FB. My feed is full of pretty normal people.

Well I enjoy some of the groups. It's another way to connect with like minded folks outside of forums like this one. Somethings just can't be talked about here so I go elsewhere. If my feed is full of whacko's it's because someone decided to do something out of the ordinary in one of the groups. Now if everyone else has that stuff in the feed it's because I'm the Whacko :)
I'm not always PC heck I'm almost never PC but somethings just have a limit . It's not complaining it's asking a question of maybe I'm just not nearly as open minded as I thought.

I am only 23 and am still blown away at the stupidity and ridiculous antics of my generation. Let alone the generation after mine... The influence social media has on youth today is mind boggling.

I do use facebook, but really only to talk to my friends as I don't have a cell phone.

It's been nice not being tethered to a device all the time (OH WAIT....).

Ok, I'll fall for it, how do you know ?
Ughh, that really sucks, how long did it take to clear up, mine took 2-3week.
Did your eyelids close ? I was lucky, mine did - just about, some folks can't sleep with eyelids unable to close, even with an eye-mask.

Took me 2 months for a 95% recovery. 12 years later and I still don't have equal movement on both sides of my face and if I squeeze my eyes shut for a few seconds it causes muscle spasms in my eyelids. My eyes are also still light sensitive and remain slightly dilated at all times.

And no, at the time I had to put lubricating cream in my eyes and tape them shut at night when I went to bed because they wouldn't close all the way. I had to apply artificial tears every 5 minutes when I was awake.

I took it in stride though. Told my wife to book a trip to Vegas since I had the perfect poker face.

I've been off nicotine for 8 weeks now.
(Not because I want to and I'm not happy about it)

But I'm going to a casino tonight and might just give it a shot.
    So yeah, I'll report back.
    :)

If nothing else, it will be interesting to see if I get the elusive "buzz" some others seem to get.
