Well I knock off about 1/16" off the spring tube housing. Works without any thread lowering the brass ring or smashing it. The only other thing is the adapter needs to be unscrewed 3/4 of a turn. This is a world of differences from what it was.

Thats just odd to me ... Measuring the bottom of the button and the clearance allowed, there is about 30-40 thousandths of clearance between the two. That is ofcourse, unless you somehow got a piece of plastic that only 95% machined! LOL

Can you look down inside YoMike and tell me if it has a flat bottom or cone shaped?

It's cone shaped.

So when i press the button and it goes flush, then i have the too short button? Will a longer one fix the problem then?

Flush -- Yes and No. If it doesn't break in completely and you are still finding yourself pressing hard, then Yes, we need to get it replaced.

It's cone shaped.

Then its fully machined :) If you had a set of calipers - You could check it to see ... But hey - Bottom line is - Whatever worked for you, More power to ya bud!!!! :D

ok.. well i'll keep plugging away at it... i was able to get contact with the adaptor secure today, and much less pressure required, still more then i think i'd like for long term use..

Removing the brass ring and giving it a quick wipe on some fine sand paper also helped immensely!

might have been a bit of extra coolant on the contact disk from machining -- thus the break in as I like to call it!

That's great news, Ann! Glad you finally got it sorted out after all the effort you put into it.

As for me, I gave up and put my old Tac switch back into service. I'll save the mechanical monster for emergency use, when adrenaline will surely help me push the darned button hard enough.

Best,
Will

Thanks Will. lol, I hope I can go from here on out with
it working. So far so good. lol, I love a challenge.
I hate you felt you needed to switch back to the tac switch.
I like the new ones, just needed them to work...lol

I just turned both of my posts around so they are both on the round side and everything fell into place. I tried that last night and it didn't work, but now it does. NO More tools....mine work.!!!!
My button feels just like the "old type" switch button. I'm not pushing the button hard either.

Great News Anne!!!! It takes a bit of tinkering and a nice break in to get rid of any residual left over coolant, but it will eventually get good!

You have the corrected medium - Meaning - It won't go past flush like it should. I believe there was a small batch that actually went past flush to begin with. They may have been mixed in. The longer/extended buttons shipped today. If you don't like the buttons when you get them lotus and prefer a bit longer, just let me know!

Also, made a video of the Protege and Prodigy just now with the mechanical switches (tried to keep it under a minute so it would upload faster)

Oh, don't worry. You know I love keeping in touch with you Steve! :sneaky:

Hope it gets here tomorrow. Getting my tools ready - pliers, dental floss, hacksaw, vise grips, duct tape, dremel, assorted punches, 3 lb hammer - the usual. :D

Damn, can't get mom to sign my permission card! 8-o
