Lately we (the vaping community) have been making our voices heard in the media. After I read this thread I thought about how we can focus that type of collective response to a negative news blurb. My thought is that we can use this thread to post information about biased media coverage so that we can respond quickly to that particular news outlet.

If you catch something in your local area, please post a link to the article/video as well as a link to use for responding such as the email address of the reporter, or their blog etc.etc.etc.

Please try to avoid using this thread for banter about the report. When you submit a new news link, it would benefit this thread if you created a new subject in the E-cigarette News - e-cigarette-forum.com • The place for electronic cigarette reviews, news and chat sub-forum.

Here's my first submission:

REPORT: The TODAY Show
BIAS: 4 (1=NEGATIVE; 10=POSITIVE)
BANTER Thread: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/e-cigarette-news/16240-e-cigs-today-show-05-09-09-a-2.html

Here's what I sent the producer of the Today Show, who contacted me several weeks ago for information about e-cigarettes and to see if I was interested in being interviewed for their show. I sent him lots of objective evidence about e-cigarettes and gave him contact information for the leading experts.

RE: Today show on e-cigarettes

John,

Is this the segment that you produced and aired on e-cigarettes?
Today Show Video Player

If so, I'm truly disappointed that you ignored all of the evidence I
sent to you, and instead chose to invite two opponents of e-cigarettes;
Cheryl Healton and especially anti nicotine extremist Lori Mosca
(neither of whom who have any experitse on e-cigarettes).

Would you similarly invite two creationists to appear on your show
to discuss the scientific evidence of evolution (and tout them as
science experts) without inviting a real scientist to defend evolution?

Or how about inviting anti condom activists to appear on a your
show (and tout them as experts in sexually transmissible diseases)
to discuss the scientific evidence of condoms reducing the risks
of sexually transmissible diseases?

Seems like NBC News is more interested in misleading and scaring
the public about nicotine and smoking, just as it misled and scared
the public about swine flu during the past two weeks.
