Not sure if this is b.s. or not but I always heard that menthol cigarettes were harder on your lungs than regular cigarettes.

For people just vaping into their mouth for the flavor and not inhaling i can see it not being a problem, but I have to ask.

How bad is inhaling menthol, cinnamon, or cloves, when in a vapor, into your lungs?

Thanks

I heard that too, when I was a teen, that menthol cigs had fiberglass in them, making them more harmful. I think that was a myth. However for vaping, I would venture to guess that if a flavor concentrate is in the juice, then the flavor in the vapor would not be harmful. Inhaling straight up menthol crystals or powdered cinnamon would definitely not be good for anyone. :)

here's a clip from a study that Columbia did on menthol in analogs, which they found to not have a worse effect in the experience.

'Menthol, a mint-derived substance, causes skin to feel cooler by arousing nerve endings that sense cold temperatures. Cigarette manufacturers use menthol because it mellows the taste of burning cigarettes. Interestingly, intake of menthol is pretty safe. Animal studies indicate that high doses of menthol distributed over a long period of time do not cause observable organ toxicities. Even when burned, menthol doesn't produce carcinogens. Menthol ingestion from cigarettes is carried to the liver, where it is broken down into harmless chemicals that are then excreted from the body.'

I used to vape menthol but had some issues so I ceased using it just last week. Those issues cleared up within 3 days of stopping using menthol. NOT fear mongering but here's some info:
Smoking Menthol Cigarettes May More than Double the Risk for Stroke : Consumer News : Medical Daily

I'd like to point out that this article reports on a health survey, not a clinical trial. And the "lead researcher" who is quoted (although no medical research was involved) said himself:

Vozoris noted while there is an association, stroke might not have been caused by smoking menthol cigarettes, but could be because smokers choosing menthol cigarettes may have already a higher baseline risk for stroke or are less likely to have medical therapy to prevent stroke.

My gut tells me this report is just another bullet in the ANTZ gun to kill tobacco and nicotine, subset of "let's remove ALL the flavors."

In a slightly different vein, menthol is used in nebulizers and room vaporizers.

If you're going to use Cinnamon. You could drip, use plain cartomizers, or use a glass tank.

I like Cinnamon Roll from MBV. I use it in a Protank with no problems.

Yes I have the pro tank and curious about MBV Cinnamon roll..has great reviews. Will try it at a later date being I'm
only smoke free under 4 days so still need straight nic.

Also thinking about dripping down the road so as not to have to use wicks.

Thanks for the replies :)

However, cinnamon, citrus flavors, and several others can and will crack or melt the clear plastic (polycarbonate) of tanks or clearomizers: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/3733-6-something-safe-cinnamon-citrus-flavors.html
So if I wanted to try cinnamon would it be better to drip to avoid the possible cracking/melting of tanks ?
:blink: Wow....Really? Were you REALLY too lazy to click that link that I provided that would have answered your question had you bothered? Sometimes you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink it.

Others have gone over and above to answer your question. The same info that was in the link I originally provided...:D

I was a menthol smoker for 20 years.
When I started vaping I started with menthol
Made sense to me. I used to wake up with a sore throat.
Just kept on vaping.

Come to find out I was not drinking enough water.
My throat was getting dry.

Since then I have ventured away from menthol
Because its so hard to find a good menthol juice.

I recently found GLV
You can add a hint of menthol to many juices.
This has just been a great experience with menthol.

I think the juices I was using just had over kill
Menthol in them. Yuck I vape those now
and I'm like. How did I ever vape that junk :D

Geezzz...I missed the post for some reason and I been here reading for days on end to the wee hours and dragging my ... at work due to being up late reading here.

I went straight to a vamo and learned alot in the 6 or 7 days I been here and know about flavors cracking stuff.

I just wanted to make sure it was OK to use these flavors to drip and not have to worry about any other problem with dripping.

Give a me freaking breaak and do me a favor and don't reply. If you knew how hard I work out in this heat and humidity and tired I am every freaking day you would miss a post here and there also.

I been nothing but friendly and kind to people here so you stay away from my posts and don't reply to me anymore !

I guess your name fits !

Take it easy man.. He gave the answer before you even asked, like jeopardy haha

kinda like quoting this and asking "how's your day going?" :D

Now the problem flavors are cinnamon, rootbeer, mountain dew, citrus flavors. EDIT: maybe some others, I don't use tanks

They crack the plastic. So they're safe on anything without plastic including drippers and even non-plastic tasks (glass metal Pyrex)

Have a great day! :)
