I wouldn't mind if Merlin's top juice fill holes were larger. I used a syringe for the first time yesterday for grins because you have to be extra careful with glass droppers.

Yea, I've used glass dropper before, but anymore, I make my own juice and I use those plastic 30ml bottles with the thin tip, and those seem to fill without any issues. I made 5 bottles of my caramel macchiato juice last weekend, so that will last me a while.

For those that may be interested. I have searched all the deals for the Merlin RTA and this seem the best price & fastest free delivery. Subtank Supply (BlueGrass Vapor Co.) My orders to GA arrived really fast. Does not beat the price I got from GearBest flash sale but I had to wait over 3 weeks for last delivery. So if you don't want to wait for long delivery especially with the holidays coming up, this is the best deal that I could find.

I am now putting away all my Nautilus atomizers and using the Goblin V3 and Merlins. The Merlin being my favorite.
The Merlin RTA by Augvape $25.99 for either color.+ Free Shipping

Have the kayfuns gotten better? I had the 3.1 lite clone, and it was plastic tank, and really small build deck and juice wick wells.

V5 build deck is still pretty small, flavor is not as good as the Merlin, Airflow is too tight for my preference. You can lung hit it, but it is not the best, on the other end of the spectrum most MTL people find even at its tightest airflow it is still not a great MTL tank, hence the reason Svo made the MTL insert for it.

I have the Tobeco clone, very well made and it is a good tank, to me its just not great, much like all of the Kayfuns. It is the easiest Kayfun to build on, not that I found any of them difficult, easy to wick as well. It seems to like a bit more cotton then most of the Kayfuns, and if you underwick it, it will leak. I find it sort of ugly, obviously that is very opinion dependent.

The closest I've come to bumping my Merlin from First place is the Taifun GTIII, and Merlin Mini. Though I'll give the edge to the Taifun because of capacity.

Taifun GTII excellent flavor, easy build/wick OK top fill, much better MTL then the Kayfun 5, Merlin Mini hits this mark as well. Better wide open air flow.

Both Merlin Mini and the Taifun are dirt easy to take completely apart for cleaning, Kayfun 5, while not difficult is much more cumbersome.

Yeah many of the Early Merlins needed fixed, my first did, and still has not reverted back to seeping, barring a catastrophic drop or some other really rough use I don't think, and haven't seen further issue.

If I ever have to fix one again I'll see about a vid.

My top 3 single coil tanks
Merlin
Taifun GTIII
Merlin Mini

While I'm not a MTL person anymore if I were that would be reversed. The Merlin Mini does MTL very well, only slightly better then the TGT3, and only because the Airflow hole in the TGT3 is 3.5 without the reducer.

Merlin Mini could bump to #1 if they sell a larger capacity chimney/glass. I like smaller tanks, so it is not a huge deal for me, but it would be nice to have that option.

After all that is said, you can probably see I'm not a huge fan of the Kayfun 5, While it is a good tank, and works rather well the vape is just about average, ease of build slightly easier then average. Overall a slightly better then average tank. Worth buying, sure, some find it great, maybe you will as well. Me not so much, and I probably have 20 other tanks which fall in line with KF5.

I've seen that in my menthol tobacco in a kfl. It's usually only after about a week when my coil gets really gunked up.
I use tobacco only(No menthal) flavors and this has happens about half way thru a tank on a new cotton wick. When I use ekowool it takes about 5 tanks to get dark liquid. It's strange???

Darkening of juice isn't new, or really notable. Its just a little burnt/caramelized juice leeching back into the tank system from the wicking media. I remember the same occurrence going as far back as Evods. Genesis atomizers same thing, I guess enough of it may mis-flavor the juice, the higher the juice flow the more potential for it to happen.

Stop the back flow and you minimize/eliminate it. Personally I don't worry about it as I've never detected an off taste because of it. When you take a puff on pressurized system your pulling some liquid into the wick, when you stop the negative pressure pulls some of it back into the tank. On slower wicking/less absorbent material the amount will be less and pulled closer from the ends.

If your a MTL vapor you may notice it more simply because a tighter airflow tends to pull a higher vacuum. More juice into the chamber, more negative pressure in the tank, more gets pulled into it when your done.

I suppose a balanced wicking job will eliminate the majority of it.

Looks like the Merlin??? Might be another good tank... Ammit RTA by GeekVape

Mentioned in a different thread awhile a go, I pre-ordered on 11-23, the usual, one black, one silver. I wrote them today as their site said shipping by Nov 30th. Funny, next email I get is not a response to my delivery ETA, but a tracking number. As you stated, from the looks, seems like some borrowed Merlin features.

Have you ordered from these guys before?

No, I think I got the link from another glowing review from Rip Tripper. I figured he would post legit vendors. I thought about ordering directly from Geekvape, anyway they are on the way.

For those that are unfamiliar with this new RTA, the supposed big deal is the internal side air holes hitting the side of the coil, in addition to the normal bottom holes. Some sites have good photos of this build deck, other sites don't show the main feature of this RTA at all. Google if interested.
