Anyone having issues with it leaking out the bottom where the air flow ring is? I've wicked it several times but only the first time worked, and in not 100% sure it's the wick. I have 3-3.5mm ID Twisted SS coil reading .59ohm. Wicking is done like others have in vids and here, just sitting on the holes and a bit tucked around the hole. Any suggestions? I can probably take a pic when I get home later. Thanks

I had it leak with that wicking style ....now I'm putting the cotton to bottom of juice well and so far so good ....but don't over stuff it

I love the drip tip on the Merlin. Does anyone know what make or style it is? I would like to find some different colors

I think it's a stingray style drip tip, Desert vapes.com has them for $1.95. They look the same.

Those are Stingray X drip tips, much skinnier and taller. Excellent tips, but not he same as the Merlin's.

I don't remember who suggested it, but I want to give a hat tip to whoever it was. I'm a hardcore MTL guy and was a bit skeptical about the Merlin in regards to my vape style. Someone suggested making a 2mm - 2.3mm sized coil and inserting it into the airflow plug in the deck and thus restricting the airflow further. After a little tweaking I was able to put the coil into the plug and then screwed the adjustable airflow ring closed. Although it was still just a tad airy for me, the flavor was excellent. Does it match my Kabuki in performance? No. But it's darn close and I love the ease of the build and craftsmanship of the RTA itself. If you are a MTL person and don't mind spending a couple of minutes, this is a great alternative tank. More importantly, I can survive the coming FDA tyranny (should it actually happen) for years to come with this simple but elegant tank. 8.5 watts on a 1.6 ohm 3mm kanthal coil has been the sweet spot so far. Thanks again for the tip whoever you were!

Been a while since I've posted on ecf but posted this on the other forum so figured I would here too.

I've had mine for 6 days now so thought I'd update my experiences with it. I have to say, Roxy and Augvape knocked out of the park with this one. I'm not a big fan of single coil anything and haven't been since leaving the stm for the goliath v2 last year. I have run a single coil in the boreas briefly to test for someone back when it first came out though.

The flavor for me on the merlin is ridiculous. I've tried a friends cleito a few times before and it was ok but, for me, I'm not sure it beats the Merlin in the flavor department. I have had zero leaks or dry hits at all. I dont bother closing the juice flow either when filling. Yes I've tried to make it leak when filling and found no need to close it off with how I have mine wicked.

Still running the same 28/40 fused n80 4mm id clapton in it. I did clean and rewick yesterday though as the juice I'm running in it is a junker (diy tiger's blood 77vg). What I've done both times was pull the wick through and fluff both sides really well until they are about the size of the deck area. Then tuck it in surrounding the cup not worrying about the cotton in the cup until the end. Then push it back up in the cup while gently keeping the top cotton in place with my finger.

After the cleaning still the same and as the close up shows, nice and juicy coil after vaping it a few more times to make sure it was still good to go.

That sounds similar to what I did but I rolled up a piece of SS mesh with a teeny tiny hole and stuck that in the reducer and it was still too airy. I couldn't believe it. I've since gotten a Kayfun v4 for MTL and using the Merlin as it was meant to be used and it's perfect for subohm and lung inhale. Love it! :)

I like the sounds of this wicking method. I'll have to try that although the way I do it works great but now I'm curious. :D

It works pretty well. Just topped it off about 30 min ago and went to the point it started to overflow the oring and still no leaking with the jc open putting the top back on tight.

After replacing the notch coil with this:
    IMG_1633[1].JPG

I know I will not go back to that crazy coil unless they can come out with a higher resistance version of different material (and maybe won't build up so much). The above braided coil comes in at .51 ohm and vapes like a dream (3*30 Ka1, braided, ID=3.5, 5/4 wraps). Current wicking is cut to about mid juice intake hole, slightly into the troughs but covering the top completely. Flavor is very strong. Did I mention how much I love this tank!
Fits really well on the Sigelei 75w "Oni" edition:
