I tried it out on the way to work and evidently I got the wick too tight again because it's not wicking right. I'm going to open it back up and pull a little bit of the wick out of the cups and see if I can get it to work right without leaking. You folks make it look so easy but for some reason I'm having a tough time getting it right. When it works right it's a great flavored vape. Right now it's not and I almost got a dry hit in watt mode so switched it to TC and was barely getting any vapor so I'm pretty sure the wick is blocking the flow.

I almost forgot. Thanks Eskie for the heads up about the orings from oringsandmore. I went ahead and grabbed a bag of orings for the top. If I can get the merlin working right then I might get one or two more so it'd be good to have those orings on hand.

Try poking the wick in at the juice hole first. Make sure there's a little space for the juice to enter, and that juice hole isn't overstuffed.

I have two Merlins, and feel better having that bag of little o rings in my supply box as well. Of course ever since that bag arrived, that little o ring has been perfectly behaved. Must know I have a backup plan.

Thanks again for all the help. I had it sitting upright in a towel all morning and no leaking. It has been busy at work this morning so I haven't had a chance to test it out since I adjusted the wick. I'll give it a try after I eat lunch.

I set my mod for ss temp control and took a half dozen hits at lunch. It seems to be wicking correctly now. I wrapped it in a towel again and set it on it's side. If it doesn't leak by the end of the day then I'm going to call it good.

It is a nice tank with great flavor
When wicked right and the right orings the newer versions are great
The only thing Ive found is just like any tank with JVC when the heat outside gets really high in the 90s and 100s the JVC needs to be closed down a bunch because the juice gets super thin especially with thiner juices to begin with

I used it on the way home and didn't have any leaking until I left it in the car while I got gas and went in to get a drink. It wasn't too bad and I'm going to chock it up to heat. I should have closed the juice control. Now I know.

Good lord, some cheap or thin glass these things have. I don't even tighten it down crazy hard and for no reason in 4 weeks broke both glass sections, juse in travel...this is ridiculous. Its my backup daily driver so i don't use it but so much but Im really let down with this RTA. Do they have a metal tank? China post can't come fast enough now. :(

Well its really not that thin, as a matter of fact its pretty much average with 1.5mm walls, which is fairly common. Quality of the glass is average, not Boro tough, but not plain glass cheap either, my guess would be a lower grade more commonly used in China Pyrex.

It is not a common complaint for the Merlin, so evidence would point to another issue, over-tightening would be a first guess, which would put undue stress on the tank, and could cause failure over time. Also a manufacturing defect is possible, but more difficult to prove without a good digital caliper and thorough inspection.

My personal experience is that the glass seems to be fairly robust. I've not dropped mine but I've played mod-domino more then once with it, and had it fall over with the full weight of larger a mod onto another atty. While a steel tank or maybe thicker 2mm walls may be helpful I think it may end up causing issues with the press fit deck especially in rougher environments.

After this long winded response the bottom line is the Merlin glass is not the more expensive and rugged Boro/quartz tubes, however unless they are mishandled they should not be breaking as your experiencing.

I would try making a conscious effort to not tighten them so much. I would also check for any metal to glass contact due to a manufacturing defect. I would also make certain the o-rings sealing the tank ends do not seem overly tight.

You could hit up IBtanked, or Bedazzled for some high quality Quartz replacements, but that may not be the best solution. Perhaps you might be just better off with one of the steel tanked atomizers currently available.
