Believe me out of the current, last year or so, there are few 22-23mm single coil rta's, and that's why folks like me bought two Merlins, no one knew at the time, they cheaped out with press fit production, and that problems could and have developed.

Agreed!
Since the day dual-coils tank is invented, all tank manufacturers crazily forget about single coil tanks and they disappear very very quickly.

To me, offset post for single coil build is the future. It offers big space to play with big coil if one prefers, it is also easier (than the dual-coils) to plug your coil to the post. Single coil deck also means you need half the effort in replacing coil or rewick compare to the dual-coils.

I really don't know what else is the advantage of dual-coils besides its ability to produce thick vapor. But now we have offset posts deck, a big coil in single deck can also do the same, so that basically means no point to spend your double effort in rebuilding coil and rewick.

Ever since the arrival of my Merlin, my pityful TFV8 nowadays hardly get my kiss.

I cleaned out my Big Buddha Mini earlier and put it away, it doesn't get much use these days.
It's a sweet little RTA, just doesn't fit my vaping style anymore.

Here is a picture (not mine) of the deck.

Thanks for the photo!
Why are there 2 airflow holes below the coil?

Beyond the Grave
I couldn't find a 510 screw that fits my Merlin….the screw that came with it now has stripped out threads….so even though the screw is all the way in, my resistance is jumping all over the place.

I guess there was a reason efun was moving these at $16.50…lol.

Ugghhhh! I learn all this after ordering a black and stainless steel a week or so
ago.

NOW SOLD OUT AT THIS PRICE!

Vapor Gearbest aka Gearbest is selling the black version off with free shipping
for $13.18 (32 pieces left as of this moment). Spare parts?.

Offset post for single coil build deck appears in:

1. OBS ACE (single hole per post not velocity style)
2. Ehpro Big Buddha Mini (I don't like its juice cup)
3. AUGVAPE MERLIN (MINI ver is under sample production)
4. GEEKVAPE EAGLE (Rebuildable OCC, doubt its durability)
5. GOBLIN V3 (I am ordering)

I am keen to know is there more tanks I can add to the list, if you know one please kindly tell me...

@shawn Hoefar
The Ehpro Big Buddha Mini is a 18mm tank (rather slim), but I can't find an image of its deck through google...

You can add the Ubertoot to your list, I believe it was very influential in the design of the Merlin, It was one of Roxy's favorites for quite some time. I still have 3 of them, great tank Vape is very much like the Merlin with less air flow.

Fat Daddy Vapes has replacement M2.5 510 screws that should fit. You might have to cut them to length or spin one in the drill and file down the diameter of the head.

Can anyone provide the measurement of the Merlin 510 screw….I know its M2.5…..but not sure about the length.

I measured the entire screw from head to tip and it was 9mm…..not sure if the correct way to measure is from the top of the head or just below it.

Ive found them in M2.5 X 7.5mm and M2.5 X 9.5mm…not sure which to get.

    Somewhere between here and there
From what I know, screws are measured from the bottom of the head to the end. The head isn't counted in the length.

After hearing several people here mention the crius, I ordered one to try yesterday. It's not the plus so I hope it'll be alright.

I have the Crius Plus and can't tell you all the differences but among them are top airflow as well as bottom. Obviously 22 mm to 25 mm on the Plus. The Plus has a larger deck, and also has a larger chamber than the Crius.

I will tell you I really like the tank. Actually just rebuilt it this morning (tank day here) with dual 316L SS simple wrap ~0.5 ohm in TC, using a DIY clone of Tribeca and it's great. Good flavor and plenty of vapor. Best part, it doesn't leak. That right there is worth a lot. Very different than the Merlin, definitely meant as a DL tank, but a lot better flavor than I expected from the design. With the smaller chamber and chimney, the regular Crius should have even better flavor.

Oh, they have the same top side fill system, which I also like. Very easy to work with.

Wish this Crius was a single coil tank. I like the looks of them and the fill system looks like a great idea. Might think about plugging the second hole???

@Cumulo Vapus the length of the screw is measured under the head.

Thanks…I cant get over the irony…
I thought the very minor seepage at the bottom edges would be the reason that would render this tank useless for me….but it turned out to be a stripped 510 pin…..which I only tinkered with to check how to take the base apart…oh well

It is funny how we value a tank so much that does not leak when it should be a given anyway.I have five Kayfun V5 clones that have not leaked a drop, not even a drop of condensation.I loved the Merlin at first but the annoying condensation and the press fit so that you can't fully strip it killed it for me.Plus unlike the kayfun you can't find replacements of each individual part.

I too value non leakage. The Crius Plus has been bone dry with multiple refills. The air flow ring has loosened a bit and that's good as it is quite tight out of the box. Forgiving with regard to wicking also IMO.

All the praises of this tank caused me to put it in my next FT cart (I need another RTA like I need another hole in my head). It sounds similar to my Billow v3 Plus (I bought two of these) which has been a great tank so far and hasn't leaked a drop.

I also have the Billow 3 Plus. The Billow top fill on mine is a bit more stubborn than the Crius Plus while the Crius Plus air flow ring is much stiffer. Juice wells bigger and easier to wick on the Billow. Capacity about the same. More space for coil builds on the Billow. Two excellent big tanks. If I had to choose one it would probably be the Billow but not by much.
