Tried a new build that I'm loving in both my Merlin's at the moment, parallel 24g S316L contact on 4mm (0.18Ω). Rayon wick 70/30 trimmed just out of the coil, it's amazing a small amount of wick tail can feed a 4mm coil. Only with Rayon.
I have a parallel 3.5mm ss316l 26g! Parallel coils are great. Always been a fave, but often underutilized because of the exotic coils of today .

Cant believe i was at the point of chucking this tank a month ago….it was seeping annoyingly and then the 510 screw got busted so it was unusable. Had to wait a while before I could receive one . After stripping this down and putting it together I have used it ever single day with no issues except my fingers get liquid residue when I am removing and tightening the base… was also wicking it wrong before….ever since i followed the less wick principle it has been super.

I also shelved both mine after they both started seeping or condensing on the very bottom after a couple of months use.I was using 50 vg/50 pg and 2.5 mm id coils with the restrictor in. Now i have restrictor out and 3.5 mm id coil in using 70 vg /30 pg.I have not had a drop of anything leak out of either in 2 weeks.

I never noticed my Merlin seeping until I took it off of my mod to clean/rebuild/wick. I won't be disassembling it (I'm an accident going somewhere to happen), but I will try it with a larger coil (think I've got a 3mm one in there now) and remove my restrictor to see if that solves it.

I like a twisted 26ga SS316L personally. 8 wraps around 1/8th drill bit gets me .45ish ohms, love this thing! I'm noticing a tiny bit of seepage, but not enough for me to dismiss this tank (in all actuality it might be condensation). Wicked with rayon of course :D

One of my other favorites is a 3×28g ss316l in the Merlin!

Agreed, I need to try a parallel SS316L. I like 24g to work with as I can use the Leatherman to pull wick through. :D

I do use 2 and 3 strand twisted 28g SS430 as well. I also use a pair of two strand twisted SS430 untwisted into a 4 strand chain coil.

While I had my Merlin with the STS replacement base apart for a new build. I decided to press it together tighter with a pair of sockets and my bench vise. Removed the JFC o-ring and selected a socket that would clear the threads, I believe it was 3/4". Used a smaller socket on the bottom to protect the 510 threads and put it between the jaws of my vise. I applied a good crank on the handle and removed it to check the threads and AFC tension. The AFC seemed a little tighter and the threads were untouched, so I put it the parallel 24g build in it and put it back together.

This replacement base from STS seeped quite badly, there was always a mess on the top of any mod it was put on. Well 24 hours later and two tanks of juice there is no seepage from this Merlin at all. We'll see how long it stays dry, press fit things tend to come loose after a while.

I'll do my Black base too next time it's apart.

I don't know if I am just lucky, but I have two merlins ( I actually have 8 of them, but only 2 are being used) that I use every day. I have not had one drop of seepage from either of them and they have been going through about 15 mls combined per day every day since I got them the first week of July. The other 6 I have in reserve I have run one tank each through them, and had no seepage problems on any of them either. I just love this tank and the only time I use something else is when I feel the urge for more vapor production and bring out my limitless plus. I am looking at picking up some more merlins to add to my vapocalypse reserve.

I'm the same. There's a lot of variability with these tanks. Some are perfect, some have seepage. Seems like it's a matter of getting lucky with which one you get.

Same. I have 5, all fine. I only use 2 daily.

Dropped mine a couple of days ago, glass did not break, but it was leaking a lot more than usual. So I decided to take it apart to fix.The tube that screws into airhole was broke (not sure if it was from drop or my disassembly). The tube fits into a plastic spacer, there is no seal there. Possibly source of seepage, weepage, condensation, or just plain F......g leak. If anyone has one of these tubes please PM me. If you know of a source for part or whole base, please reply. I got mine (all 3) from Efun. Oh I almost forgot I have an extra clear glass part if someone wants to trade.

I got a 2nd one because I messed up the threads on the chimney on my first one with my ham hands. The new one has the square juice holes...and there has not been a bit of seepage. With the first one, I had to mop up pools of liquid three/four times a day. If the vape hadn't been great, I would have chunked it.

I ordered a third from GearBest when they had the $14.99 sale.

Damn, I am trying to clean my tank and rebuild, but the glass and the top and bottom part that hold it together are stuck. Trying to soak it in hot water to see if I can get it to break loose. Last resort will be vise-grips, which will probably shatter the glass. :(
try the freezer instead of heat, or needle nose pliers down into the juice fill slots and a latex glove on the bottom

Too late. I was trying to wrap a rag around it and GENTLY use the vise grips, and it snapped almost instantly. It was game over. I have 2 extra tanks. Lets just hope I can get it apart with the glass broken off.

You put the vise grips on the glass???

Needle nose in the juice holes like Fozzy71 said, is the best method for a stuck Merlin...
Lol, I'll remember that next time. I can normally get them off using the rubber handles of my wire cutters on the bottom of the glass. It doesn't use much force and normally works. But today wasn't my day. lol.

I had the same problem this week. Solution.... hair dryer. Purely by accident. I had run water through the tank to clean it. Then soaked it in hot water. Couldn't disassemble. But I needed to clear the water out of the tank so I used a heated hair dryer. The tank gets surprisingly hot. After that, wrap in a kitchen towel and twist. Easy peasy.
