Just watched the review of the Skrr by Jai Haze, he tore the tank up for not producing good flavor. He attributed it to bad airflow design. Airflow is at the top of the coil so no opportunity for it to pick up the flavor and carry it up and out.

For the ones who hated the childproof drip tip, you can change it out for your favorite drip tip eliminating the childproof lock.

As he was trashing the new coils for their contribution to bad airflow he said you could change them to baby beast which I take to mean you could use the NRG mesh coils since they are interchangeable with the Baby Beast coils.

Haven’t seen any other credible reviews yet. I’d like to see 3 or 4 more by guys I trust. I’d be a little worried and bummed if I had pre-ordered.

The Luxe mod looks like a winner.
Here is the link to his review, start at 5:05 in, the first 5 minutes is just mindless rambling.

Ugh, srsly?? :( I LOVE the Freemax Starre Pure, which also has top airflow. Hands down the tastiest flavor I have ever had. I wish that tank had caught on so Freemax would make a larger capacity one with the same coil.

But I digress. I am definitely worried now! The tank I preordered is supposed to ship tomorrow but who knows if it's on time or not. I am pretty sure I read that the kit is set to ship on the 17th, but I just checked Vaporl and there's nothing on there about a ship date. sighs. I guess I should watch the review so I can get REALLY worried! :grr:

My fireluke mesh coils last a very long time.
What are you vaping on? Power or TC? I am strictly a power vaper, never got into TC, and I vape at the low end of the recommended range. I did try to mess with the wattage somewhat but just couldn't get to the sweet spot. Went through 2 boxes of coils with no luck. :(

Maybe mesh coils just aren't for you, there are others that aren't fans. I liked my Pures until the coil QC tanked. First 3 boxes did great keeping up with my high vg juices, after that had nothing but trapped air in the coils. Had to tip the tank after every hit to release the bubble. Pure pita then.

OOokay, so I watched the review and I actually feel better, lol! I already knew I would be able to swap out the coils for the NRG coils, which is what made me pull the trigger in the first place, but it looks like he only tested the mesh coil. The strip coil is supposed to last the longest and I have never met a Vaporesso ceramic coil I didn't love. As long as it's not the tank design and the problem is, indeed, the cotton/flax mixture of the wick, I should be okay. WHEW! :D The Luxe does look amazing. He must not have a Revenger X, because it also has haptic feedback. The Luxe seems to be a great mixture of the Armor Pro features and the X features. I am glad I didn't opt for the all black Luxe, though. It definitely does look like a fingerprint magnet!!

Ahhh, so inverting the tank is the trick! I carry 3 mods routinely and my last flight was a hot mess, lol. The only tank that didn't leak was my Penguin. The Starre Pure and the Ello Duro both leaked like crazy. That didn't happen when I flew in February so I thought maybe it was because of the season, but I don't know. Next flight those suckers (or whichever suckers I have with me) will be traveling upside down! :)
When you hold the tank upside down make sure the juice is not touching the coil, if it touches the coil there may be enough pressure to force the juice in to the coil and out of the air holes.

If you fly with the Freemax Starre Pure do not turn it upside down since it’s top airflow. You only invert bottom airflow tanks. If the Starre leaked while flying it was either overfilled or has a bad seal, I suspect over filled since the airflow holes are very close to the top of the tank. Close enough that the pressure could force a full tank to leak through the airflow, try half full.

Wow, I have never had a bad coil in my Pures! I accidentally let my daughter borrow one of my Pure tanks a year or so ago and never saw it again, lol. I order coils for both our tanks (well, my 2 and her 1). They last forever. Literally a month or so on commercial juice, max VG.

You might be right about mesh coils. I haven't given up on them yet because I have only tried a couple of different one. I do like the GT mesh coil. Forgot I bought a box of those, too, lol! The flavor I get from the GT is what I expected the others to be like. They did seem to go bad faster than the ceramic ones, though.

That makes sense. I do try to keep them half full or less when flying.

Big difference:
The Pure has it’s airflow control at the top of the tank so top airflow.
The Skrr has it’s airflow at the bottom of the tank so bottom airflow what is meant by the the Skrr has air flow at the top of the coil is that air comes in the bottom on the outside of the tank but doesn’ flow up from the bottom of the coil due to the brass looking plug, instead it first contacts the coil at the top of the coil. This means the air doesn’t pass through the coil where your juice is being vaporized and therefore doesnt have the opportunity to pick up the flavor and transport it up the chimney and out of the drip tip. The air need more of an opportunity to move through the coil for max flavor

It was probably lying on its side. I never even thought of keeping the juice away from the airflow. I did close the airflow, though. How weird is that? #airhead

When you close that just lets the leaking juice build up behind it until it finds an exit or until you open it and it exits all over you

Oh right! I see what you're saying. So now I'm wondering if the tank will hold more than 8 mls with the GT coil in it. The new coils are a lot bigger than the GTs. It's great to finally start seeing large-quantity tanks. The only other 8 ml tank I have is the Penguin ATO pack and I love the capacity.

You will be the first and only one I know to get the Skrr, so you will need to tell us about volume with GT coil, wether or now Jai Haze is right about bad flavor and does the flavor improve with a GT coil. The tank will lose it’s leak proof status with GT coils because unlike the Skrr coils the GT coils are bottomless which obviously will allow excess juice to leak from the AFC.

There is a lot to like about the Skrr but I’m not going there until I hear more reviews on flavor with the Skrr coils and how bad it leaks with GT coils if it leaks at all. The NRG uses the GT coils and is bottom airflow and mine do not leak, stands to reason the Skrr will hold up as well with GT coils.

My thought exactly! I haven't had a problem with a truly leaky tank in a very long time. Condensation, yes, but even that's nothing like it used to be. Tanks have come a long way in the past few years, thankfully! I will definitely post about the SKRR when I get it. Mesh coil first, of course! :)

I like the Aero tank mesh coils. The Aero came with the Legend kit so I tried it and bought a couple of packs of replacement mesh coils the next day. I got 150ml through the first one and was impressed enough to buy 2 more Legend kits.
IDGAF if others are better because I like these and they came with the mod I wanted so win/win. I find what I like and run with it. Saul Goodman.

I'm only in the shinyitis thread because I like the company.

I was hesitant to even try one because I'd been using DIY SS430 coils & Sally's rayon in Aromamizers for years (pennies per month) but getting 150ml through a sub-$3 coil is cheap enough for me. Not having to rewick & rebuild is a nice bonus. My Aromamizers are all packed away in the vapocalypse box now.

Max VG 3 mg at 60W and tasty clouds for days.

Can’t say I’ve heard of Phoenix Vapor before.

Another from Wendy Vapes who enjoyed the taste she got from the strip coil

I’ll watch on my layover, Delta WiFi doesn’t support streaming/video while flying. Does just ok with forums and surfing.
