I was shopping a couple of days ago and found this little Duracell Pocket Charger on a clearance rack at a large drug store. 
It is very similar to the ones that Sassy found, except that it is rechargeable and has a Li-ion battery in it. It's 3.7v 500mA and has a swivel out mini USB port to charge devices and a USB cable to charge the charger. It also has LEDs that indicate charging and ready to charge or low battery strength (red & green) and an on/off switch.
I haven't opened the case yet. I'm wondering if it would be strong enough to power a PV with the Li-ion battery that it has onboard. (only 500mA) Any ideas?

I plan to bust it open, as soon as I figure out how to do it without damaging it. It's glued shut like its little bro... I'll probably use Connman's method to open it. Wish me luck!

Cliff - try your local Walgreens drug store. I found mine there on a clearance rack for $6. I hope I can mod it with the existing battery, LEDs and switch. That would sure make the mod easier. I bet I can't do a juicebox mod though...

But am currently trying to get a 5 volt box going to help me move on. I will post pictures when finished. It`ll be a few days though. Going to paint it possibly. All and working on a juice feed version as well.That lanyard can be shortened to whatever length. And hope that ribbon in the box works like planned.

The weather here is rain every day and Hot and Humid the rest of the time so all painting is on hold.

Did you just glue the top cover on? You don't have to show pics of the guts that way.
