You guys have been reading my mind.
I'm a cigar and Pipe smoker but find few "quality" products to meet those needs. I've been looking at the Ego for some time now, thinking that it had potential to be either.
If the the Ego were only offered in a mottled brown color and the chrome piece at the end were matte and made to look like the ashes at the end of a cigar... I'd be so happy! Come to think of it, the chrome battery connector could be made to look like a cigar band with the Janty logo on it....
Honestly, I spend about as much time smoking pipes as I do cigars. I was looking at the ego and trying to figure out how I could make a cosmetic mod that would just slip over the battery....just to add a bowl. I don't need ( or even want) an LED for an E-pipe. They all look silly since you usually don't see much of a "cherry" with a pipe anyway.
I just can't figure out how to mod the mouthpiece to look like a pipe.
Anyway...YES please make a Janty e-Pipe...but my requirement would be a MUCH larger cart in addition to the longer battery life. I smoke my pipe for a good 30-60 minutes at a time...so the longer I can puff on an e-pipe without having to refil..the better. Sounds like the new cart design in the other thread might do the trick. ;-)
It wouldn't matter to me if it was made of metal and was matte black...I'm not stuck on it looking like briarwood. That'd be nice, but not a requirement. Maybe you could have a design that allowed for different bowls to be placed over the battery? Most pipe smokers have several that they switch between, so the ability to have different bowl designs would be nice too.
Until somebody makes a good e-cigar or pipe that I don't mind walking around in public with, I'll still smoke my analogs most of the time. I only vape my 801 at home. :-( If and when I buy the Ego, I'll likely just smoke it at home too as it still doesn't look like something a person would "normally" smoke.
I think that everyone using these various pipe mods would happily switch to something that at least looked more "normal" if it provided a high-quality vaping experience like the Ego and many of the mods do.
PS, personally I perfer automatic batterys especially for cigars and pipes as I typically walk around with them in my mouth, hands-free.
