after about 3 hours of careful soldering...and on and off paint coats, the chipset is alive and the box is curing. that dark hammered bronze might turn out ok after all.
i managed to sand down the back plate with some 500 grit sandpaper, fits nice now. glad i bought spare fuses though, ate through a few trying to get that right.

i believe the hammered paints from rustoleum are becoming a favorite 
nothing wrong with that but i sure would like to see some more swirls!

Didn't do a fancy paint job, but I love these boxes! I took one of them to a vape meet last night and had probably ten people asking me how they can get one. Any chance of another co-op for these? Or if not, will nap ever make the shapeways design public?

The swirls are one of my favorites as well!
The aluminide looks nice. What 'clear' finish did you use on it? Do the 'sparkles' still show up?
It was just rustoleum clear, I honestly thought I would be sanding it back off and getting something better, but after four really light coats it came out looking fantastic.
That's good to hear - I do want a clear coat on mine and over in the tibs2 co-op thread it was reported the water based Miniwax satin poly gave a dull grey finish (which I was going to use).
Here are all 5 of my Mike co-op DNA boards in their homes. I have to say that the Tibs is my favorite due to size and ease of build.

Hopefully I will have pictures soon, I swear I will not put another coat of clear. I just hope I don't run into fitment problems with all of the coats of clear. 
Shouldn't have any trouble that a little sand paper won't fix. I will be using automotive clear on mine, that has me a little concerned but I'm sure it will be fine.
