You should be able to get 40 Watts from 2 high drain 18350s. Of course 2 18350s are about the size of a single 18650. 40 watts at 8 volts is 5 amps. At 6.4 volts it's 6.25 Amps. That's pushing an 18350 but you should be able to find some that will do that without getting too hot. Battery life is another issue.
Another way is an 800 mAh or so high drain lipo 3S which really aren't that much bigger than an 18650.
The upshot is if you want teensy tiny dna 200 functionality (limited to around 40 watts) it's doable. Evolv is very close to having made the "universal board." If it only had Bluetooth and a tablet/smartphone app, color screen display, . . . .
