It doesn't really matter but I think it's easier to connect it to the board.
No need for the screen protector in a milo, the screen just sits behind the plexi glass.
How difficult would this build be for someone that *doesn't* have access to drill presses, routers and Dremels? Is the box flat sided? I remember seeing mention of sloping sides, but that may have been for a different box...
Any specific tricks to working with the battery packs mentioned, in regards to connecting them? I've only ever worked with discrete batteries (18650 in holders or in a fistpack).
Also...I don't have a plexiglass source or any real way to cut it (see 'without router/dremel', above), so I'm planning on using the front plate as shipped. Is there room to use the mounting window thing I saw in another thread? (screen protector/frame)? Does it hold the chip *and* the display, or just the display?
Drilling the button holes and such wouldn't be too hard, and with some filework you could drill out the USB fairly easy. The time consuming part would be the screen hole, it could be done with drilling and filework but you probably will be hating life for a while. Or not, depending on how you drill.
Question about parts... I have most of them. I am just waiting on a single 18650 battery case from China and who knows when I will get that and I need QuikSteel( i think). I am building a wodden box mod. Should I use quiksteel or is there something else. I tried Ace, Frys, Home Depot and Walmart and can't find it. I don't want to order from the internet and wait another 6-10 days. Where can I get it in So. Calif? Also, would anyone know where I can get that single 18650 battery case, or do I have to wait for China to deliver it?
thanks
Mike N
Not sure what you are using quick steel for....but you can get it at most auto parts stores like autozone or etc. But I wouldn't recommend quick steel, at least the putty I have used. I would recommend quick setting jb weld two part epoxy.
I was going to use it to secure my dna charger and dna 20 to the wood.

Another question for those who have built a Milo... what's the weight?
I was a bit worried about size, then did a comparison - it's a half-inch taller than a fistpack. Width and depth look to be the same (or close enough as makes no difference)...
