I smoked for the first time in my teen years around 14-16 year old I smoked a bit just to fit in with the crowd. I absolutely hate the fact that vaping is not allowed for minors because once your 18 your probably smoking non-stop. This is my personal opinion you guys might disagree with me. I would like to know when you started smoking and at what age. The age for all the things in the world has been decreased. Smoking cigs at a younger age, having s*x at a younger age, trying out drugs and all this is because of kids experiencing more things at younger ages. I would love to see minors quit smoking and having a vape in their hand before its too late.

Well, minors aren't supposed to be smoking either. Cigarettes are only supposed to be sold to adults over 18.
I started smoking when I was 10. Ijust recently found my daughter smoking, found a pack of smokes in her truck. Confronted her and had a good discussion about all the negatives. I then started her on some low mil. vape and equipment. Better than smoking and I am picking the battle. They are going to do things behind your back especially when you say no to whatevever, so at least this is alot healthier. I have been vaping 3years, and never felt better.
In the UK, from 2016, there will be e-cigs on sale that have a medical license. These will be on sale/free (depending) to anyone with a doctor's prescription.
Good for under 18 y.o. smokers, bad for the rest of us. I don't want to pay $10 for one disposable e-cig. Our NHS will pay for it, out of my taxes.
Either way, I lose. If it gets youngsters off the smokes, I shouldn't complain too much I guess.

The other day I saw a kid, can't have been more than 10 or 12 years old, blowing big clouds with a mech, at the bus station downtown. I don't know how I feel about that; on the one hand, at least he isn't smoking cigarettes, but on the other, it provides great ammo for those who want to regulate, or outright ban the ecigs. At the very least, I wish he would be more discreet about it, not blowing big clouds in public places to show off for the older kids (he was hanging out with a crowd that were obviously at least a few years older than him.)

Hopefully when things get better with tha FDA as Big tabbaco trying to shut us down for taking their sales by 1% of their company maybe we can have minors stop smoking. I see a bunch of teen groups just hanging around and smoking a bunch of cigs just gets on my nerve. Alot of the population nowadays are maturing faster than they should be which is a good thing and a bad thing. Maybe having a medical license for vaping would be a very good idea. Around 16+ year olds can apply for it.
Kids will always smoke before they vape it's just easier to do for them.
It's sad they'll have to go down that road, if they so choose.

Don't really like the idea of tax dollars going to buy little Billy disposable e-cigs from BT/BP at all!

Minors will drink, minors will smoke analogs, minors will do illegal drugs.
Minors vaping has got to be among the least harmful things that minors will do, so I don't really see it as an issue, and it does not concern me at all.

I began my cigarette addiction as a minor (I'm sure most of us did). Just shows you how good the age restrictions work out. In other countries where the cigarette age is lower there seems to be less addiction associated around it. When abroad I met a lot of smokers who just smoked when they were drinking/strictly on the weekends. While that does exist in the US, I think it's a lot less common.
That said, I'd rather see minors just not pick up cigarettes at all, but if they're going to start using nicotine (and minors will always find their way to get their hands on it) I'd much rather see them pick up an e-cigarette.

I'm waiting for a soccer mom to go to one of the tax or 'ban' hearings, little Johnny in tow with a box mod in his hand, saying this is why regulation is needed, or a news story at a middle school showing kids blowing clouds- faces blurred, of course...
Except when the powers that be use it as an excuse to limit your choices as an adult to using only tobacco or menthol flavored cig-a-likes, or even ban vapor products altogether. It's not necessarily just about what the kids are doing, but also what that means for the rest of us.
It doesn't matter how many teens do or do not vape. The government, health care organizations and lobbyists will always use it as an excuse.

I started smoking at 16 because it was the "cool" thing to do, much like vaping is today. It was illegal for minors to buy cigarettes. Yet, my friends and I managed to buy them anyway. Nothing would have stopped us.
So on that note, I don't care if minors vaping is made illegal. In fact, it probably should be; not that it will stop kids from vaping if they are determined to.
My problem is when the powers that be want to mess with flavors (bwh79 raised this too). They are convinced this is a marketing ploy aimed at minors when in fact most adult vapers I know (myself included) don't really like tobacco flavors. If they stomp all over flavors I am going to have to start mixing because I have yet to find a tolerable tobacco vape.
And FTR, cigs could have been any flavor and I would have bought them anyway.
It is not the taste that draws kids in it is the "coolness" factor and it always has been.

I expect no less from our government and nanny state politicians, whose sole purpose seems to be to intrude on other people's freedom, waste tax payer dollars and to meddle where they do not belong.Even in the worst case scenario, if it were to become 100% illegal, I would still be able to acquire what I need, much as I do today with certain other things that are not legal, because of certain idiotic and anti-American laws.
My 2 cents (before tax) - if a kid is already nicotine dependent, vaping is good harm reduction. If a kid is not nicotine dependent, then I do not think they should be vaping juice containing nicotine. However, I fail to see the issue with kids vaping zero nic juice, recreationally.
Yes. Sure. And beer should be sold to minors, otherwise they will drink whisky. I absolutely hate the fact that beer is not allowed for minors because once your 18 your probably drinking whisky non-stop.
