Modded my KayFun to suit my likings

Like the title says I modded it.
I have a way of modding most everything to better suit my own needs/ likes. Seems vaping is not immune from this trait of mine.

Bought a kayfun clone to go on a Nemesis clone, and liked it more than the iTaste MVP or Ego's I was using beforehand....but....It could be better IMHO.

First thing I didn't like was the small hole in the tip. Didn't like having to suck on the thing for what seemed like 15 minutes (probably more like 20-25 seconds) to get a decent pull. Was also a little harsh on the back of my throat (hot maybe? Nic on my juice is at 10mg).
Screwed on the drip tip adapter that came with it, and tried different style drip tips I had to figure out what hole size I liked best.
Found 4.5mm or .175" was the size I liked best.
I could have left it like that but the look wasn't appealing to me, and although I like a drip tip on my dripping atomizer I did not want one on the KayFun since that is on my pocket/ carry along vape set up.
Off to the lathe, and center drilled out the top of the KayFun tip to that size. Deburred the end, and slightly countersunk. Buffed out with red scotch brite.

Nice. That took care of the hard draw, and also the burn at the back of my throat.

Next......I like big vapor. I know I can get thicker vapor by allowing air in around the tip when I pull on my vape.
Honestly IMHO a pain in the backside, and different than the pull I would take on a cigarette (when I was smoking) so again I could have stopped there but wanted my normal pull with thicker vapor.
Hmmmm, Allow more air in just like with the gap in the mouth method but through a vent hole in the KayFun mouthpiece instead.

Off to the drill press, and bored a .043" hole at the base of the mouthpiece.

Sweet! Now I have my normal draw with the thick vapor I want.

Lastly the Kayfun clone I bought at the local smoke shop had the bead blasted finish which didn't match the Nemesis clone I was running it on. Again I could have just been happy with it, and left it alone but as I said before.....It's in my nature to mod EVERYTHING.
Chucked up the KayFun in the lathe, and took the red scotch brite to it to mimic the #4 brushed finish for the Nemesis clone it was paired with.

Not bad.

Now Nico is a happy vaper with this set up with a 1.3 Ohm micro coil (chimney config), and some DIY 7% yellow cake, 4% Cinnamon Danish, 3% Bavarian cream 50/50 juice (Thanks Savagemann for the Juice.....Nico is loving the flavor, and makes the shop smell fantastic).

Just thought I would share what I did in case someone else might like what I had done for their own gear.

Yes it does.
But not a wide hole in the tip.
Good work. The KFL+.has adjustable air flow.

I messed with different settings on the adjustable air flow but regardless of setting on the screw I still got the burn at the back of my throat I didn't want with the small hole.
I noticed this difference when I had it configured with the drip tip adapter, and trying different drip tips I had.
That's probably the main reason I opened the hole in the tip but it does help on the draw as well.

Looks good man!
I've often wondered how airflow at the drip tip would effect the vape. Sounds like it's working good!
I recently saw somewhere, maybe a rip trippers video, an adjustable airflow drip tip. Seems like a cool idea! Pun intended!
Glad you're liking the juice!
We'll whip up a larger batch this week.

As I stated in post 5 it DOES mute the flavor but increases cloud production. I have since put a piece of shrink wrap tubing over the hole, and heated to fit.
I can slide it up if I want more vapor + more air on the draw or down to bring the flavor back to full strength.
Honestly don't recommend it but do recommend the increased hole in the end.

I agree the stock Kayfun tip is not for me. I spruced up my lite plus too.

first I cut the tip to a shorty size and polished it. I sometimes like the condensed vaper so I made a reduced ring out of an old carto end which is removable.

I installed a nano kit that I brushed to match my Nemesis and hybrid ring to remove the mod top cap. I wanted to match the mod so I polished the base of the kayfun, top portion of it and the coil housing barrel for a two tone look.

I thought it came out well.

400 wet sand paper did the trick for the brushing, polishing was done on a drill press or by hand.

I can't leave anything alone......

I'm too lazy to do all the machining work because I have this habit of starting a project and never completing it. So I bought the Kayfun to match my chiyou and put the full mtank on it and replaced their clear drip tip with a chaos style one from innovape. I'm happy with it and people at the vape shop that don't come on ecf look in amazement all day as they see my coil heat up and the vapor go all the way up the tube through the drip tip.

I drilled out the hole on one of my kf3.1 clone tips too.... I did it with a drill and smoothed it out with a diamond beveled dremel bit. HUGE difference, I hate the tiny hole.... burned my tongue!

I've seen the air flow adjustable drip tips, I don't understand how it could improve clouds or vapor production, but everyone says it does? I'm obviously wrong. I think the side air hole with shrink tube was brilliant, if you wanted to try it... especially on the clones since they're so cheap now. The whole kf clone is cheaper than the adjustable air flow drip tips.

How did you make it a shorty style? I don't think I have the equipment to do that :(
