Greetings Mountain Family. I'm not able to keep up or post much. Tomorrow is the big office move. With the exception of my computer and monitors, everything in my office is already moved, put away and even have my pics hung on the wall. I was one of the lucky ones that got new office furniture so I had somewhere to put things early. I'll concentrate on servers and engineers tomorrow and Friday. Please cross all your fingers and toes that nothing goes awry with the data center move. My body is telling me I'm getting too old to be climbing under desks.

I like the way you think of it...I'm like that when I think about my mom...although I miss her so very much, I no longer look at the holidays with sadness, instead now I have incorporated a lot of the traditions that she used to do, and made them part of my own traditions for my family....I feel like I'm carrying on for her, and if I can be anything close to what she was to all of us, then it's a very good thing!

Good luck getting that computer set up...if it has Windows 8, you'll need it!

I purposely went and bought a new windows 7, my hubby has 8 and complains about it all the time. My son has 8 too, but he used Classic Shell to get back some of the 7 features.

I am fighting the holiday blues a little bit. I lost my Dad when I was in my teens during November, and my Mom just 9 days before Christmas 1999 to an auto accident, I was decorating my tree when I got the call. Life does go on, and there is plenty to be thankful for each and every day, but somehow the holidays can catch me off guard and tenderhearted. I hate to admit it, but that Bing Crosby version of White Christmas hits me like a brick, I can't listen to it at all. I'll be looking forward to Christmas party announcements and sparkly pick me ups.

Whoever you were..a Mountaineer you be..so here's your easy fix to simplifying Windows8.

Whoever you were? Welp, I'll be.

So, of course I didn't get a stoopit Windows 8 machine!!! I actually own a laptop with it and wow, never again, even WITH Classic Shell. No thank ya! I got a Win7 machine specifically because I can't stand the 8. Good luck to those who have them. Enjoy. Not fer me!

Anyway, she's up and running and purring like a pro. I love the new car smell!!

Heck I'm nowhere near a pro..but I can vape at 40 or 50 watts..lol

Wow, I'm a total pro. I can vape at precisely one 10th of that.

Kat, glad you got your machine all set up...I don't blame you...I hate, hate, HATE...did I mention that I really HATE Windows 8!!!! ...I have it on my tablet and I find myself not using it as much because of it...I much prefer my Windows 7 laptop!...My bf did the same as you and searched out a Win7 one when he had to replace his laptop earlier this year...he refused to have anything to do with 8 too.

MsCruzer, good luck with your office move...I certainly don't envy you that task! I hope it goes smoothly and fingers crossed for everything getting up and running with no/minimal hassle!

Has been a super busy week for me, between work and things going on here at home, I've barely had time to check in on things on here...so glad my week ends tomorrow...I need a rest...and my big drink!

Hi Kat darling. My laptop with new programs for my business is Win8. It is kind of a pita, but I don't play on that computer, it's strictly for work. So it doesn't bother me too much. This computer is vista, and while I really didn't like it either when I got it, I am used to it now. With all the technology, it would seem they could come up with something everyone likes?

I fell asleep super early. Shepherd's pie overload. Woke up a bit ago, and now wide awake. Broken sleep stinks....wish I could sleep a full 8 hours like you normal people.

Sorry, but I have no clue what you mean by 8 hours sleep, if you mean consecutively ..... I usually doze after din din, then up for hours, then sleep again for a few.

I blame it on Al Gore.

Lol. I hear all of talk about all these crappy nightmare stories of window machines My mother is a professor. So we grew up with apple products in my house. It is all I have ever used And it wasn't because we had money. It was the fact that you can get 4 times the life out of an apple machine without having to service or down right replace it. I always bought them used because they are so expensive. Lol. Hope everyone rid doing good

Woah, woah, woah KS...who you calling normal? I think that could be considered a bad word...after all normal is boring! I embrace my weirdness, oddness, eccentricities, craziness, whatever you want to call it! ...And I have no idea what you mean by getting 8 hours sleep, haven't done that in a long, long time...especially on work nights, where I usually only get 4, maybe 5 hours if I'm lucky.

Oh, and my big drink is what my bf calls it, because of the size of the glass he serves it to me in! ...It's really just a glorified gin and vodka martini...by the time I finish it, I'm gone for the rest of the night! ...Oh wait, that means I do get 8 hours sleep one night a week....but that's because I have help with it!
