Talkeetna is a very unusual place for sure. We flew up around Mt. McKinley in 2013 from Talkeetna. It was the highlight of that trip for me. Cool little town though.

Sounds like she was REMOTE if you had to go through all that to get there. I've seen some shows about real estate around Talkeetna where they had to snowmobile in to the home. That's a little too remote for this city girl.

We had time to kill in the airport so we played "Alaska or Lower 48" where we guessed if people walking by were natives. They were pretty easy to spot. Especially the women!!

I had so much vape stuff with me this year when were there. I was so afraid I wouldn't be able to find a vape shop if I needed one. I had backups to my backups. LOL

Yep, she said it was easier in the winter months to get around on the snowmobile and shorter distance too cause you didn't need to use the road. She did have a sled and dog team for a while; but after having to bring in supplies plus water for nine dogs, decided it wasn't the best use of any free time she had.

Living that life up there does wear the women out quickly.....and it shows. All, if they can afford it, try to visit somewhere warm during the winter months. HI, So. Cal., FL, and south of the boarder are favorite spots.

I can't remember the name of that little airline that flew out of Talkeetna. Used red planes. We got to land on Mt. McKinley (now Denali). I waved to another plane load of Japanese that had landed and disembarked. Didn't wave back. Guess they thought I was strange. Once we got back, we had to push the plane around to line it up for takeoff for the next load.

Yessiree Bob, that trip was certainly an adventure. Good that I was 20 lbs. lighter and 20 yrs. younger! Dau. now has indoor plumbing and electricity........:p Think she finally learned how important they are to daily living.

Smiley and I jerked a few tears this morning..it was a good cry if you know what I mean. Meh, I guess some won't, but this song,...just,..nvm sharing for those who have lost loved ones. Yesterday was my first time hearing this..I immediately thought of my Mother, as she was quite the dancer.

If you are very sensitive I suggest you not listen for obvious reasons.

Pretty song, Sirius; but sad. :( Isn't there a pretty, cheerful New Orleans, Irish Wake kinda song for our departed loved ones.? Something that makes me "envy" they're there and I'm here? I mean those pictures during the song..........:w00t:

Yes there is but I'll have to find a clean version for this thread Chooch..lol
