Got the in-law to agree to try this. Here's the deal with her though:

Age: 60ish
1.5-2 PAD
Smoking for like 45 years or more

Here's the other thing. She is really completely ignorant with anything technological. She can turn the TV on and run the microwave but I think that's it. I want equipment for her that will be easy to maintain, cheap on the monthly residuals (refill likely), with good lasting batteries. She doesn't need mods or anything fancy, just something to get her off the analogs.

I've read that the eGo is pretty good and likely will fit this bill. But have also seen that the Riva may be the way. Any suggestions for someone like this meeting these guidelines??

I can so relate to your MIL. I'll spare you my story though and skip to the meat of your quest. Despite being tech challenged, I managed the eGo just fine (after the initial paralyzing moments). It will help your MIL to have a tutorial video and perhaps a post at hand when hers arrives. (probably with any type of ecig chosen).

The Joye eGo is the original eGo type. It's such a great PV that it's been copied/cloned since it's introduction. The Riva is one of the better clones out there. You can't go wrong with either one. The original Joye eGo from JantyWorld has a 6 month guarantee, even on it's atty. Other stores have other warrantys. The Riva has a 3 month I believe. The Joye eGo is more expensive. The Riva is a lot more affordable in the short run. With that said..... Have you considered the new eGo-T hitting the stores right about now? They look to be the most user friendly out of the entire bunch so far. (but they're all pretty friendly. If I can do it, anybone can!).

Summary: I highly recommend the eGo or it's affordable clone the Riva. I've used the eGo for over a year and can vouch for it. However, the eGo-T is a promising challenger, one that is highly worth considering.

Congrats to your MIL!! I hope she enjoys vaping even half as much as I do. She'll be ecstatic.
