I'm willing to spend money on a good setup, I have watched several vids on YouTube and want more out of vaping, like lots of vapor and something that looks good and will last me a long time.

Forget the vids on YT unless you know who to trust. Half of them are commercials.
You want something that you can hand down to your grandchildren?
Try this. You can get 2600mah batteries there too, and they'll last you for 24 hours straight. Later on, you can spend $40 for a "kick" and turn it into a variable wattage PV, which is better than a variable voltage PV.

i second the silver bullet heard good thing about them.

You an search this entire forum for 3 years back and not find one bad thing about the Silver Bullet or the smaller Baby Bullet. I have a BB and I've run over it with a tow truck, dunked it in the Gulf, dropped it out the window of the car and buried it in mud overnight. After 2 years of every kind of abuse except fire, it's working like new. (the paint looks a little rough though)

There are three versions of the Lavatube, plus the Lambo, presently.
The first version has a 2.5amp cutoff. It also has a reputation of dropping your voltage as the battery drains. All of Apollos Vtubes are the first version electronics.
I have this one and I'm o.k. with it, but I'd go for one of the other models.
Apollo is a good vendor and they do, in fact, have the only Stainless model. But it's base on the original electronics, so it has those limitations. If you use a 1.5 ohm carto, it will limit your voltage to 3.7, regardless of what you dial in. It will drop your voltage as the battery drains, so you have to hit the + button now and then.

The second version raised the amp limit to 3.2amps. This lets you use any carto out there without limiting your voltage.
It also corrected the problem with voltage dropping and added a display to show the resistance of your carto.

The third version is the same as the second version, except it uses a tapered metal cap on top an raised the amps to 4.0. Now, you can pop 1.5ohm cartos all day long at 6 volts.

Unfortunately, all the fancy looking stainless and chrome on brass ones are version 1, with the 2.5amp limit and the voltage problem.

The 3.2amp model is referred to as version 1.5

The 4 amp model is refirred to as version 2, or version 1.5 t.

The Lambo is a 2.5 amp version with a nicer battery connection. I'm not sure what the Upgraded Bomber is. It could be a version 1.5 with a 3.2 amp cutoff. The Bomber was the original name of MFS's Lavatube version.

You can get a version 1.5 or 2 for the same price, or less than the older version 1's.

When you're looking at these, it's best just to separate them in your head by their amp limit. It'll be 2.5, 3.2 or 4amps.

A version 2 is available for $50 for the tube only. You'll need to buy your own batteries and charger. Vaporalley.com has them and they call them version 1.5 t. They also have a 6 month warranty. This is the best deal, IMO, as long as you don't mind choosing any color as long as it's black.

Vaporbeast.com also carries the version 2 in a full kit for $70, but they're out of stock.

CrystalClearVaping cariies the full version 1.5 kit for $75. They may be out of stock.

Smokeanywhereforpennys has the full version 1.5 kit for $70. Not sure of stock level.

If you want to get a Lavatube, your best bet is to wait for stock , or get the version 2 tube and buy your batteries and charger separately. You can get a pair of good IMRs and a charger for about $30.

Up until 15 minutes ago, I would have suggested the version 1.5 Lavatubes. Now, there have been a couple that have reportedly had a problem, so I'm going to wait until they figure out what's going on. The Twist is cheap, but it's not really a VV. It is more like a 10 setting "selectable voltage" PV. Plus, it's disposable. Right now, I'd have to say the Version 1 Lavatube is probably the best cheap VV. I have one and I've had no problem with it. The only real limitation is that you can't use dual coil cartos because it will think you are trying to use a low resistance carto and it will limit your voltage to 3.7. People say they use dual coils on eGos and 3.7V mods all the time, but you really need 4.5V+ for a DC carto to work well.

If you look around, you should be able to find a version 1 Lavatube for about $50-60 for the full kit. There are coupon codes this weekend so you might be able to get one dirt cheap if you act today. I'd look at apolloecigs.com and see their price first. They're a great vendor and have a year warranty and free shipping. I'd bet they have a coupon code today, but I don't know what it is.

Hi sailorman, thanks for the info, yea thats in my price range. I wanted to stay under 150.00 for everything including a tank, do the tanks work well, I see lots of people online have them, and I wanted one so that I would not run out of juice through out the day, and have to keep refilling my cardo.

Yeah, tanks work well. Dont make the mistake of using a dual coil carto in one if you have a 3.7V battery though. Get a 1.7ohm single coil Smoketech and you'll be in vaping nirvana with any decent tank.

sailor, have you had a lavatube? what did you think about durability?

It is more durable than i expected it to be. It's aluminum, not plastic. The endcaps are also aluminum, but they have plastic over them. The plastic cover on the bottom is held to the cap by little plugs that stick through holes in the metal cap. This is so if the battery were to vent, the pressure would blow the plastic cover off and open up the holes. It's no silver bullet, but I've dropped it plenty of times on wood floors. I've never dropped it overboard though. I doubt it would handle that. It has a year warranty and I've had it for a few months now. I don't expect to have any real problems. It seems like the ones that had problems had them early on, in the first month or so.

I have a black one. Some people have reported that the paint has rubbed off the plastic on the bottom of the silver ones. The paint on the metal tube is really tough. It looks like new, without a scratch, so far.
