Neither. I did enough damage to my lungs through my 45+ years of smoking. Decided I would give them a rest for the rest of my life.

In my case the less to the lungs the better. I do the mouth through nose. Kinda suck on it like one would a straw. Hold it in my mouth for a second or so and then out through mouth and nose. Some does get breathed into my lungs but as little as possible.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The tighter the airflow the longer you can draw MTL.

On the extreme, try MTL on a DL tank full open and you will be lucky to get a full 1 second drag...too much air flow.

On the other extreme, use an airflow as tight as a gnat's a__ and you can MTL drag for days.

Just don't try nose to lung vaping. Have to wash the drip tip afterwards and it's like snorting fire up your nose. But it does work.
Joking apart I tried that, after getting a tooth pulled. You are told to avoid suction in your mouth. I didn't actually stick the drip tip up my nose, just held it close to a nostril. Not much vapor made it in, must have been some though because I remember my nose was burning. It was more about being able to do something vape related.

I was a bad patient after my extractions I did a very very loose dl trying not to create any suction in my mouth. Fortunately I didn’t get a dry socket although I did get one when I wasn’t smoking or vaping. Go figure!
