I've been vaping now for just over 13 months, just over 1 year exclusively! During this time, I have spent $2000 on PV's, APV's, Clearos, cartos, batteries, chargers, juices and a heap of DIY supplies for both hardware and juices.

Now, you will note on my signature line, as of today I've saved $2791ish.. Not much of a savings...
Until you find out that what I spent also covers the wife's gear and juices also. So add another $2000+ to the savings...

I have enough supplies and gear, right now, to last out at least 6 months in hardware, if I'm rough with it.. another 1-2 years on juices.. (Thank you DIY!!). I hadn't bought any more gear in the last 6 weeks, but I did break down and spend $25 Friday for a few more clearos and parts to try out.

So, a total monthly cost of almost $400 (not even adding sales tax in..) for cigarettes has been reduced to less than $25 a month for vape gear!
Yes, some months will be more, some less, but I can also breathe! So can the wife (and kids LOL)!

I cant agree more with your post, I have spent so much money on vape gear and constantly checking whats going to be the new toy of the week. Ive been looking every day when the new kanger protank 3 comes out. Also, I think I am on provape everyday updating my cart ha ha. I wrote on another thread of being addicting to rebuilding my coil heads, but also have become addicted to all online vapor stores :) I have probably spent about $600 this month. The funny thing is I have a black provari and I was just online looking to get a silver one ha ha As someone stated before hopefully this will die out soon and I can put my credit card back in my wallet and eventually start saving some money :) :)

This is some of the reason I can recommend a Provari or Svoemaestro. You pay your money, get basically the best on the market, and then upgrade juices or...Kayfuns... ;_;

I feel the same way. I made the mistake of ordering a few Chinese mods and then I received my ProVari mini. After using the ProVari with a protank 2, I realized that I made a mistake buying the Chinese mods - I planned to use them as backups for the ProVari, but would I want to even use them ever if the ProVari is of such high quality.... So, I made the decision to get another mod that would be as good as the ProVari (a Semovar) and would be different enough to provide some variety but of the same quality. Then I got some kanthal, wick, and a Kayfun lite rda. At this point, by the time I get my Chinese mods (it has been 2 weeks since I ordered them), I will have 2 top of the line mods, 1 of the better rdas on the market, and 3 protank 2s. The only thing that I plan to buy from now on is maybe 1 more Kayfun to be able to switch a flavor, kanthal, wick and e-liquid (and even the e-liquid can be DIY).

The point to my rambling is that if you are sure that you like vaping and will stick with it, just buy 2 very good mods that you will enjoy vaping interchangeably, so that you will use both of them all the time, and spend the rest of your money on liquid and coils, which are really just maintenance.

But that's just my take on it.

I got curious so I worked some numbers.

$311 I'm am sure I spent. I doubt highly I spent another $89 on things such as retail juice and stuff I didn't think to add but just for the sake of round numbers, I'll say $400. About another $30 in flavorings I am going to spend soon. I will have enough supplies to last over a year with the possible catastrophic battery issue so I'll throw on $60 for another MVP2. In at $490.

Estimated money I haven't spent on tobacco cigarettes is $500 assuming I would have smoke nothing but generic (I know I wouldn't have). I am already up $10. Add to that another year of no cigarettes. I should be an easy $1100 in savings over the next year. Yeah, I will probably tap into some of that but I'm sure it won't be much.

So if you don't have Gear Acquisition Syndrome, yes you can save. If you are filling the void of no smoking by buying more stuff I'm sure those numbers will be totally different.

Savoir-Faire is everywhere!
One day I made the mistake of going out with my neighbor for a couple of hours. When I got home there were stacks and stacks of packages that I'd received via USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc. and my mother and stepfather were freaking out....lol

Fortunately, some of it was for the cats and the house so it wasn't all vapemail and it didn't "look" as bad. :D

I try to space things out a little better now.

I've been vaping for eight years. The cost comes down to your research, and your knowledge of e-cigs and prices. That is how its becomes so cost effective.

Also, you have to resist the new devices and buy wisely. Choose items with promising futures. (i,e mechanicals and rebuildables)

If I was to break it down,
Currently, I'm buying $60 worth of essential vaping supplies a YEAR. Maybe a cheap clone here or there. Say $150, per year given shipping.

If I was still smoking, a carton costs at least $40 in most places. 1/2 pack a day, sparingly, for me when I smoked. There are 10 packs in a carton. So 1 carton lasted me about 20 days, lets say 1 month. So $40 a month, 12 months * $40 is almost $500 annually.

If you want to know where I get my supplies, feel free to PM me (All official retailers). But I do a lot of research before I purchase items for the pros and cons.

I'm pretty bad about buying the newest shiny mod, RBA, or a juice that everyone is squawking about =] I used to PIF everything that I wasn't rotating, but I've stopped that because I ended up replacing things that I'd PIFd LOL I'm in a good place now, I've figured out how to coil, what toppers work best with what eGos, mechs, and VV/VW mods. In the long run, I tell my husband that we're prepared for anything - if he ever decides to give up the cigarettes and his occasional toot on his cigalikes.

At this point I should be able to settle down with buying the PVs & toppers and just sample different juices that strike my fancy.

Vaping since June 2012....Haven't had a tobacco cigarette in 17 months.

I went through the gadget phase. Had to have this. Had to have that. Everyone is now buying this. Oh! That's cool and new. Yep, been there, done that.

I've tossed out probably 80% of all that stuff in favor of keeping it a simple, quality vape.

A few eGo 900's and a couple 1100's. A couple T3s, MT3s and a ProTank. That's it. Daily I empty and clean the T3s tank, refill. Once a week replace the coil. Grab a fresh 1100 and put the spent one on the charger. Repeat every morning.

Every 6 months or so I'll buy a couple new batteries to replace the worn out ones. Have plenty of T3s, MT3s clearos, and batteries for 4 complete rigs if needed. When traveling I'll carry an extra rig, battery, clearo, a couple coils and bottle of juice. I have a charger at home and in the car.

Monthly cost: 1 pack coils $5; 1.5 bottles 30ml Boba's $24.45; Total $29.45 month. (unless I score a sale and it's less)

Cost for tobacco cigarettes: $55 a carton x3: $165 month ($135.55 per month saved) PLUS: I don't stink, have good breath, don't cough, have asthma, headaches, smell and taste senses are normal, can vape in the house, in bed....what's all that worth?

I'm almost embarrassed to share how much I've spent, and continue to spend, on vaping supplies. I've been smoke-free for around 8 months and I've easily spent $2500. First it was working my way through V2's before I realized what a waste of money they were. Then I was introduced to Ego vv batteries and the cartridges, tanks, clearomizers, wicks, coil heads, and a never ending search for juice. Recently I got a Vamo V3 and started making my own juice. Now I am on a never ending search for flavors. But I love every minute of it. I never enjoyed smoking like I do vaping. It's much better for my health and that's how I justify it. Or try to.:)
