Of course it is ok.
Ya, I just moved so finally got setup. Ever had a train go by while playing a gig? We were playing on the beach for Irish days and the tracks were about 20 feet away

Here's one from the market

With the train in there it would have been ironic if you had been playing "The wreck of the old 97" !

I have 4 guitars (2 are midi), mandocello, octave mandolin, mandola, 3 mandolins, bass, fiddle, tenor ukulele, irish tenor banjo and a bunch of harmonicas... The place I just moved to is upstairs of a piano shop and next door is my fav music store, long and mcquade. I went down Saturday morning in my slippers with a coffee and one of the guys knew me from my old store.

Yup, I knew when we came to look I had to move here

oh ya, I have a ghuzeng as well and some b o n g os LOL. I want one of everything eventually. My girlfriend has a soprano and baritone ukulele plus an acoustic guitar

I used to collect rc cars, 5th scales. This is actually cheaper

Wow - sounds like music heaven LOL

When I was a kid I always wanted to either live in a music shop or a book shop. I still love music and books, but can't play or read as much any more (bad health and eyesight). I do audiobooks now, and as I said earlier, I still stay involved in music in other ways so it's all good! :)

I stripped the finish on the mandolin in my profile pic. It is now a blond. It looks and sounds way better now. I cut the fretboard extension off, fit a cumberland bridge. I just picked up a clip on condensor mic so I can record with it. My next songs will be cool. The mic works with all my acoustics. I have a Godin acoustic/electric mandolin but no matter what you do it doesn't sound right. I have tried so many electric mandolins and they all sound tinny to me. The Godin was the closest to acoustic I could find

Wow - did you touch-up that photo, or is it really THAT yellow? Hard to miss! :)

Hubby likes brightly colored gear too - has a thing for florescent orange and green LOL but then he has always been a front man and likes the attention.

I always preferred to blend into the background. For me, it has always been about the music, although I always enjoyed seeing a crowd digging on the sound.

Nice Mandolin, Pipeous! Is that the one you posted pictures of a while back or is it stock? As I remember, you built one and refinished another.

I love a nice natural-looking wood finish. Not something I can get with my Korg keyboards, but I used to have an antique upright piano that was beautiful. I never figured out what kind of wood it was, couldn't even figure out who made it. It was unique in a lot of ways, so maybe it was custom made. It even had 2 pedals instead of 3.

So how many here are gigging?

I miss gigging... well, I don't miss hauling equipment in and out, or going to work the next day after a weeknight gig, and a number of other issues (but I'll stop there lol)... but I do miss seeing people enjoying the music I am helping make happen. *sigh* those were the days

In this particular appearance, Greg Martin of The Kentucky Headhunters was sittin' in. Others I know in the groupl are Doug Phelps on bass, he's also in The Kentucky HeadHunters, Ed King on guitar, he was with Lynrd Skynrd, and Jimmie Hall on harp, sax, and vocal, he was with Wet Willie. I think the other guys played in some famous groups as well.

I was just invited to play tomorrow with a bluegrass/gospel tomorrow night. I am listening now to the music. The Whites. I am playing mandolin. Love jumping into music I have never heard before lol. but it is standard bluegrass/country type chord progressions so as long as I can see the guitarist or bassist' hands, I can fake it

You guys can tune in May 12th as I am playing a live radio show. I did the show with the Celtic band a couple months back. I am going solo this time with a couple instruments. May 10th I am playing the opening of the delta farmers market. Been doing the winter market but mother's day is the grand opening. I have found a cool steady routine of gigs playing these markets on saturdays and sundays. Pay is ok and I get lots of cool gifts from the vendors (this apricot butter is to die for).
