Although Im still following the thread I havent been mixing new trials to crack bobas. Ive settled on the mix I made posted here awhile back as closest to bobas as I am going to get. Ive tried some of the others here incl the #7 and they are great recipes but imo they werent as close as what I came up with some time back.
Im still positive the key to bobas is tobacco absolute and that it is indeed not 100%vg as claimed.
Buffaloguy,
I agree with you that TA is an essential ingredient. I could especially taste it when I first tried Boba's fresh out of the mailbox.
I know I may not have much cred on here as I only have a few posts, however I have been a member of ECF for a little while now, mostly as a lurker, and have taken great interest in this thread in particular. I've been vaping for just over a year now and have been diy'ing for almost as long.
After following this thread for several months, I finally got my first bottle of Boba's about a month ago, for "evaluation" purposes lol. I still have about 2-3 mls left out of a 10 ml bottle, and the ONLY reason I have any left at all is because I am trying to save for comparison purposes wrt to making a clone. I wish now I would have bought a much larger bottle so I didn't have to be SOOOO conservative with what I have. This stuff is delicious, and only gets better with age. I think Ben accidentally stumbled upon a masterpiece when he created it. Some say he's a genious; I think he just happened to get lucky. REALLY lucky.
Anyone who knows Boba's as I now do knows that this stuff takes weeks to fully develop. It tastes like a completely different juice than it did a month ago. At first, to me, I got a strong chocolatey-cigary-cinnamony flavor with prominent TA notes, and virtually none of the oatmeal raisin cookie taste it has now. Crazy how this stuff changes!
Anyways, sorry about the long, drawn-out rambling. The reason being is I want to convey my acute interest in this thread and the attempts to clone it, including adding my own $.02. I have tried several versions that others have come up with so far, and a significant number of my own attempts since receiving my bottle of Boba's a month ago. After analyzing the overall consensus of what people believe is in it, I have concluded a couple of ingredients as being pretty much a sure thing (please correct me if I'm way off here): VZ Black Cigar and/or FE Black Mile Plus (I've so far only tried the Black Mile Plus as I don't have VZ Black Cigar...yet lol), Graham Cracker and/or Cinnamon Danish (I've so far only tried TFA Graham Cracker Clear and have yet to test with TFA Cinnamon Danish), and Tobacco Absolute. The rest seems to be a rather evasive mystery up to this point, but that may change soon. Very soon.
IMHO I kinda sorta think there just might possibly be a honey type ingredient, though I'm not too sure about that lol. I'm leaning very heavily toward another ingredient. To my limited knowledge, this particular ingredient hasn't been tested yet. I'm about to mix up a couple batches tonight using this yet untried ingredient, and will definitely be reporting back on my conclusions, even if I'm way off. If I crack it then great, I'll
consider posting the recipe (haha). if not, then so be it. I'll post another close but no (black) cigar recipe. Hopefully some progress will be made at least. What's great about it is that I don't have to start from scratch; I get to piggy back on the trials and errors of all those who came before me, and to whom the real credit is due
So stay tuned...(I know ya'll will! LOL!)
