So I'm a nurse and work at a hospital and I go into the back room to stealth vape or the bathroom because they would frown upon my vaping no matter what it is. Anyway I'm walking down the hallway and one of the doctors I work with (I never even knew he smoked, he's a pulmonary doctor) pulled out his PV and just started vaping away! My mouth dropped. Later that day I walked up to him and pulled my PV and showed him. All of a sudden he starts asking me all sorts of information: Is the juice safe? What other options are there? etc I gave him this forum for answers and MBV for some juices. It was crazy. Has anyone ran into anyone that vaped but didn't do their research yet? I researched a ton, then I bought my stuff.

Not to derail or hijack your thread here, but I felt like adding this. I have a friend who is in his mid 60's, is a heart patient and was a long time smoker. His cardiologist told him e-cigs are perfectly safe. That absolutely blew my mind. I guess I don't feel as guilty now vaping when I read stuff like this.

No really, almost all the doctors I work with suggest the ecig to get off analogs! All the lung doctors agree and now I know of like 3 other doctors that vape. Once he told them they all came running to show me their PV's LOL!

What an awesome experience. It's nice to make instant friends that way. All I can share with those people is how my body feels now that I vape instead of smoke. I can take much deeper breaths and taste and smell are better. We really need more doctors on board doing research to dispel the bad/wrong rumors. The kicker is, I enjoy it 100% more than smoking so that is either good or bad. :D

Vaping has become pretty popular in the area of Florida that I live in, and I run into this all the time. I always find it shocking ... but then again, I'm the type that researches stuff half to death. They probably think I'm nuts when I start rattling off terms like mAh's, and trying to discuss PG and VG with them!

Wow! Well, if Dr.'s are vaping, now I really don't feel guilty. Thank you for posting this.

My father in law just had heart surgery after a massive heart attack and his cardiologist said to get him an ecig with high nicotine level so he would quit smoking! I knew we had the right idea but now I know. Also a prominent pulmonologist at another hospital did a news story about how ecigs are the best and that he suggests everyone that smokes to get one to quit smoking!!!

Yep, me. I hadn't done any research when I first started vaping. A colleague told me briefly about ecigs. I rushed into a corner store after work and bought the only one they had, with the only prefilled cartos that came with it. After a short time I got something better than my first tiny little pv. And I researched and moved onto some good cig size batteries, cartos, juice etc. But for starters - I just used the first thing I came across. It worked too - I stayed off cigs while using it.
I think its better to research, but also not to get paralysed from doing too much research. Research helps to avoid inflated prices, and to choose better quality hardware and ejuice. When I have helped others to start vaping I've given them options and steered them toward the better stuff.

I agree, all the choices can be confusing! I did some lurking on here to figure out where to go to buy then did it! Best decision I've ever made. I feel so much better.

This is the second time I have heard a cardiologist recommending e-cigs. I can't thank you enough for posting that. It just made my day.

I'm glad I could! I've been hearing it for ages! I have a nurse that just finished her Nurse Practioner's school and she was so happy I started vaping she hugged my neck. She said it's all the other junk in cigs that hurt you, nicotine isn't that bad, just a stimulant like caffeine. So I know I'm doing the right thing, it's nice to hear it from the professionals though.

That's great that he is a doctor and vapes. One thing that scares me though is the fact that he is a doctor, and doesn't know how to use Google for research.

No he is super busy, he just went to a B&M and asked them what to do. I told him there are better websites for info and better prices online. He was really excited. He has a pretty good setup for a noob. Ego twist with clearo. I told him since he has money he may look at a provari etc for home use. He was stoked.

Well, there is the whole argument about everything you read on the internet is true. That was said with my tongue planted firmly in my cheek. :)

That is great you helped him. Hopefully he'll tell his colleagues and the word will get around more to the medical community.

A little different but on the same path, My Mom is the one who intro'd me to eCigs. She works in ICU at the hospital. She(non-smoker) got the idea from her nursing friends who vape. Health care workers.

Yes I'm an ICU nurse and have been one for 9 years. I knew smoking was bad but as we all know they are hard to quit. I tried vaping back in 2009 when we just started out on this ecig journey. Those stupid atty's that didn't work, bad juice and blue foam carts, horrible! Now with clearos etc it is just better all around. Now I could fully quit cigs and enjoy vaping with less work. He said he had about 4 friends in his circle that now vape. He said we should get together with all the docs and nurses that vape for like a coffee day once a month to talk about vaping and I could "school" everyone LOL! Me teaching the docs, wouldn't be the first time Hahaha

Great post! Always nice to hear when folks in Health Care are on our side.
After a pulmonary function test my doc. had me do, she told me the results came
back that I have moderate emphysema. Ever since, I've been trying not to inhale
and if/when I do to not do it deeply, just a throat inhale.

Just don't want to make the condition any worse.
Only fresh air in the lungs is the best choice for me I would think.
