I have a personal friend (used to also be a co-worker) who is a dental assistant. She smoked right along with her mom and sister. about a year ago she QUIT analogs and STARTED vaping! Now, her mother does and her sister too! Even gals she works with have converted to the e-cig! (all dental assistants)

My dentist, my daughters dentist and our GP are ALL supportive of my switch to vaping. My quarterly "cleaning" sessions are now down to 2 a year since I quit smoking analogs. Teeth don't stain anymore. My gums don't bleed as much during the cleanings either.

What's not to like?!

..... she told me vaping was not one iota better than smoking cigarettes and then proceeded to give me a long lecture about how terrible my habit was. She even claimed to have taken a class on electronic cigarettes! .....

That's simply hilarious - the main ingredient in ecig refills, PG, is widely used in toothpaste; and the active ingredient if used, nicotine, is in everyone's diet, and everyone tests positive for it. So cleaning your teeth and eating are bad for you.

I am constantly in awe of propaganda as it works so beautifully. What I haven't figured out yet is how to make it work for me; maybe a global campaign along the lines of, "Send Roly $10 now and your soul will be saved and your life will be paradise, it's proven by medical researchers plus it's government approved". Yes, it can't fail. My next boat will be a gleaming new 60-foot Wally Yacht (with crew) instead of the old wreck on my mooring now.

I don't understand why there is so much negative pressure on vaping. It is SOOO much better than smoking analogs, yet some people are still against it. I do believe big-tobacco has a part in that, but others? I guess they don't have any vices to worry about. Yeah right!

My wife and I have been vaping since a heart specialist recommended it to her. She'd been having all sorts of breathing and general health issues for the last few years. She vapes like a fiend, but her breathing improved really dramatically after she quit analogs about two months ago. She got kicked out of a COPD drug study she was in because her lung capacity had improved too much.

I would tell your dentist that his assistant does not need to be giving medical advice! pfft took a class on ecigs what a load of plaque!

Seriously. She really stepped out of the bounds of what's appropriate for her profession. If I were the dentist, I would not want my assistants doing that.

My dentist told me that the reason I was having "gum issues" (can't remember the sad technical name for it) is mostly due to the heat from cigarette smoke. Since I've been vaping, my dentist has been going on about how healthy my gums look and how well I've healed from the various helpful things she's inflicted on me. :)

Haha that is good to hear. I'm hoping my gums improve now that I'm off analogs.

stressing that I should stop smoking due to receding gums and early signs of...periodontal disease or something, I dono, I never paid much attention because I was a smoker and that was that. I think the only part of it I won't like is that I may bleed more due to a return of blood flow, and the cost. I already know I need a bit of filling, which wasn't even apparent until I started to vape.

It's funny as my dentist quoted this almost word for word. She was surprised that within 1 month of me laying down the ciggs, my mouth was so clean. I'm in the military at the moment and take full advantage of the free (may not be the best) dental care I can get. If I can get my teeth cleaned every 2 or 3 months, I'm happy. I had gone in only a month after I started vaping because I was told about the early signs of periodontal disease. I stopped smoking that day. A month later I went in for a cleaning as I was completely done with smoking. She was thrilled that my gums had started to heal and that the staining on my teeth was so greatly reduced. She asked how I quit and I responded with vaping. She even wanted to try my device because I told her how great my Ecto Plasma was. haha. She wants to get some supplies for her husband to help him quit since I had such a great success. I handed out some cards and told her of a local shop. I really hope that her significant other can make time to get in there and drop the stinkies!
