You would be surprised by the amount of support we get from doctors offices and managers at hospitals etc.

I wouldn't be surprised. Dr.'s are intelligent people that take time to look into things and understand them. Unlike the media and politicians who jump on whatever bandwagon gets them where they think they want to go.

That is so cool! :)

I've had similar thoughts too. Did you ever go through one of those "approved" smoking cessation support group programs? We could do it so much better. All the fun of a Tupperware party! And with a point to it too!

I'm dead serious about it.

I think this is a great idea.

PS- Yes I did attend one of these groups when I was on the patch many years ago. It only worked for 3 months for me. Shortly after the last patch I was back to smoking.

I have only two words to describe the experience: guilt & shame. God forbid anyone said they had a relapse. And we got to witness someone describe all the virtues of Chantix side effects. Half the people stopped showing up after 3 weeks.

"Would you like your cessation to come in your color choice of pink or blue?" That certainly never came up as an option.

Locally, when I quit with vaping and was checking around to see what they thought about it, I was surprised to find out all the hospitals dropped doing the quit smoking group support program. Then again... perhaps not so much.

For the last 10 years I have been going to the doc, when I do something stupid or for a sinus infection. I am one of those lucky ones that rarely get sick. Everytime i would go he would get my chart and his first question. Still smoking? How many? I can give you a prescription for this magic blue pill. Every time I said I don't want to quit. 5 minutes later after a back and forth he will say so what brings you here. I get an antibiotic and that's it. I normally got 3 infections a year and maybe 1 or two I would need to go to the doc for.

I slid into second base. Yeah stupid 50 year old still thinking he was 20 and hurt something bad in my knee.

I went to the doc. First question as usually are you still smoking. I said well depends. I started using one of those e cig thingies. He said oh really? I said yes. Next question from him, so what brings you in.

That was it.

Me :( for you. I had to do an e-cig 101 with my GP and my Allergist, but once they had the basic understanding of how it worked (like gum or the Nicotrol inhaler) and what the ingredients were neither had any problems with it. I even got to play a little "fun with math" with my Allergist regarding his questions about the mg/ml of nic in the liquids, daily usage, and absorption rate. Even with my 24 mg liquids he didn't calculate a problem and was right on board.
