My favorite part of vaping... watching cops shrug!

I started vaping about a month ago. While waiting for a light rail train downtown, I was in what we call 'Pioneer Square' which has been a complete no smoking zone for a while now. People are routinely written tickets for smoking there. I was vaping away, and two guys approached me and started asking questions. (I think that is one of the toughest parts for a new vaper, getting all these questions from people who see you vaping, and feeling like you have to get it right because you want to represent vaping appropriately!) Anyhow, I was telling them what I thought about vaping, answered a few of their questions, etc. Around this time, a transit cop is walking our way, and one of the guys points to the cop and says 'and these guys can't write you a ticket!' Of course, the cop stops dead in his tracks with a 'did you really just say that' look on his face, and says 'actually, I can.' So I say, 'oh, its an electric, not a cigarette', and he says, 'oh, okay', and walks away. Pure WIN.

Similarly... Just two nights ago, I was on the college campus where I take classes at night. Its pitch black outside, and I am standing outside vaping around the back of the building overlooking a field (no roads, etc). Note, that this campus has been 'tobacco free' for a while now, and they will write tickets which are about $25 a pop and can affect your eligibility to graduate. Two other students come out and see me, and proceed to light up analogs. We are chatting away about something funny, and never even notice the rent-a-cops rolling down the lawn with all their lights off. Next thing you know, they are getting out of the car and walking towards us, and I just say 'ah, sorry guys'. I didn't even have to show them my ID. Ha ha!

Anyone else have similar stories? Also, in case anyone was wondering, I started with those cheap little X-Hale 02 cigs from 7-Eleven, and upgraded to a 510 this week and its amazing. I don't think I'll be seeing any analogs in my future!

I haven't had any run-ins with the police yet, although I have had people give me some strange looks on the 16th St. Mall downtown, and only one incident with someone who was ignorant and rude. I was waiting for the mall shuttle and these two ladies walked up to the stop. I'm just vaping away, minding my own business when one of them starts coughing and makes a rude remark about smokers to her friend. I turned around, looked at her and said "This isn't a cigarette and I'm not smoking, but thanks for faking!" They both walked away with red faces. That was pure win for me.

Good for you! I can't stand people who act like they're above everyone else!

I enjoy the NO SMOKING sections in the casinos--same thing, different place

I had the lady sitting behind me at a BSU game inform me that I was bothering the people next to me, after I showed her that it was not in fact a cigarette! When I asked the people next to me they had no clue what I was talikng about. Some people just know better for all of us I guess. Now please excuse me while I go blow dry my hair in the shower!

I live in Wyoming where it is still legal to smoke in public buildings. A lot of establishments would prefer you not to smoke inside and I have yet to see anyone not respect the owners' wishes. Some restaurants have smoking sections and you can smoke in bars too.

AHHHHH the good o' days. I was thrilled when I moved to PA 3 years ago from CA. Smoking sections in restaurants! A year or so later all of that was gone.

I got stopped by two cops while vaping on my way home from the train station. One of them asked, "What are you smoking there?", and I figured he thought I was smoking an illegal substance in my Screwdriver, so I started to explain e-cigs to them. The response was that he knew what they were, used one himself, but wanted to know what kind I had and where he could get one.

The past few months I've had to walk past 10 - 20 cops, sometimes more, protecting a building site twice a day, and none of them seem the least bit interested in my Egos or SDs.

One of the guys I worked with yesterday saw me vaping and thought it looked like a breathalyzer...? LOL
Driving home, I had a police officer in front of me at a red light on a busy street, I vaped just before the light turned green and the officer sat there looking at me in her mirror, I just waved at her with my eGo between my fingers (like a cig) and she drove off.

No police stories yet, however I have had several strange stares ever since I even began using the 7-11 ecig. I would take a puff or two and without "putting it out" I would just put it in my pocket. A few people looked at me like I was crazy. Also, this sunday will be my birthday and the first time I will be going out and be in a public place for many, many hours, so hopefully I can manage to stealth vape pretty well. I live in a town where smoking is viewed worse than the plague, so even ecigs are sure to cause a fuss here I'm sure. I hope I am wrong, but we'll see.
