Hi everyone. I just started building micro coils a little less than a month ago, first for pro tank heads and more recently for my new kayfun/nemesis. They've just been your basic 1.8 ohm 7/8 wrap of 30 gauge, which I usually vaped around 8 watts. Was feeling a little adventurous tonight, and thought I'd either try a chimney build or a dual coil (with 2 wires wrapped side by side to make a single coil... is there a name for that?). And then I thought, "why not do both"?
So, I doubled some wire over and spun out a 7/8 (14/16?) on my coiling gizmo. Compressed it and mounted it vertically. Other than the top leg wanting to run hot at first, it all went together pretty easy. Metered at 1 ohm which gave me 17.64 watts on a fresh battery in my mech, or 8.82 watts per coil. 4.2 amp draw on an efest 2000mah 18650.
Gotta say, the flavor is just... amazing! It feels like as big a jump as switching to micros from standard coils. Fires up faster than I thought it would too. Doubles the surface area of the chimney without sacrificing power.
Anyway, was just feeling pretty happy with myself and thought I'd come share.
I looked around and couldn't find a post or video of anyone doing this. Gonna try it with twisted kanthal next time.
