Nice...Do you find the type M connector works better than the N for a 901 atty?

Actually, the only difference is the diameter of the center pin. Both will work for our purposes. I just find one easier to get my hands on at my local RS, someone around here seems to be in love with the size M as it is never in stock. Same price, same function.

Here's my version of this mod. I wanted to see how quickly I could put this one together so there is no epoxy or glue (all friction fit and the tightened nut on the switch). It took about an hour to put together with most of the time being spent on drilling the holes and waiting for the soldering iron to heat up. It works like a champ and I love how small it is. Nicowolf, thanks for getting me to pick up the soldering iron once more. :D

Very nicely done mods. I do like to drip ....so having the atomizer inside the box would make it more difficult. I keep seeing these ultrafire batteries. I hope people making these are using batteries with a PCB protection circuit built into the battery. Using unprotected LI-ion batteries can be dangerous if overcharged or over discharged. The PCB circuits limit overcharge at 4.2volts and discharge levels below 2.7 volts. The PCB will help keep the battery in it's proper operating range w/o making the battery unstable. The problems with an overly discharged battery come during the charge cycle. If the battery becomes unstable(internal short).... and you overcharge it......it can explode. Please heed these comments.

thanks for the heads up Ray , I'm sure most modders are aware of the dangers of lithium cells.
The ones I use currently are all unprotected cells , I do use a protected Charger to charge though.

Over discharge won't cause any other problem other than overall battery life / charge cycles, But at the price you can get these for I'm not to worried about getting a few more charge cycles out of them. Over-charge is only a problem if you do not use a battery specific protected charger.

Quick update:

I am in love:wub: with this mod. The batteries are lasting me through a work day - about 7 hours of continuous vaping:hubba:. I can charge more than one battery at a time if I choose. Carrying a spare battery is not bulky or heavy. The mod fits nicely in my pants pocket for stealthy vaping. With the atomizer connection tucked away nicely inside the casing, I don't have to worry about putting too much stress on the epoxied joint by carrying it in a pocket. Now, if they would just make a protected 10440 and do it inexpensively, I would be set.

Apo: I like the name. I think I will call it the NicoStick;-). Yours looks GREAT:thumbs:. Nice and clean. I plan to do one for my 510 next - I have lots of spare parts for it and it functions equally in my Magnum mods. I may even give up my Magnum mods for this - they seem heavy and awkward now.

Is anyone planning on doing a step by step tutorial for those of us that are "technically challenged." I would love a manual switch for my 901s.

Bri1270, this is in the works;). I am going to do a step by step pictorial of the DC jack atomizer connection, then another for this mod. I will post each in its own thread and then ask Sun Vaporer to sticky them for easy reference. That way we can discuss it in this thread, which can get lost (there will be a link in the stickied thread to this one) and the new thread will just be info and such so that someone looking to do a mod can get all the pertinent info without sifting through all the discussion. I am hoping that my modeling this format will show others how it can work so we can have all the mods that easy to find.

Sorry about the tangent there, but wanted to inform everyone of my plans for a separate thread.

I like the ideas, which were also used by several other mods. HOWEVER, I think we would all learn if others could post pictures on the threads they seem suited for. For example you don't want anyone to post input, suggestions or even comments except here on your Nicostick. For the betterment of the community I think it would be advantageous for all modders to add their 2 bits.

You might as well ask Sun to closed your nicostick picture thread so no one else can add on to your thread. Last time I checked this was a community forum with input from all the members.

We can all learn from others here on the forum and I would be the first to be open to suggestions on any mods I performed. I'm sure others would rather stay on the same thread instead of going back and forth looking at pic's, comments, and other suggestions.
