When I first got my 901 I thought man this is great, good throat hits, lots of vapor, liked it better than cigs. Now when the damn thing works right it is awesome but it is so inconsistant I'm ready to go back to cigs. Gone is my throat hits, vapor production is weak the damn attys are only a week old. Topping off constantly gets old and forever charging batteries gets old as well. I also dont see how you guys think this is cheaper than cigs if you are forever replacing hardware. Done venting going out to have a cig at least I know I will get good smoke and a throat hit.

They say there is a learning curve to vaping. It took me a week and two different models of PV to get into the swing of it. I still have anologs, but about 80% fewer than I did before.

Try to stick with it. I'm predjudiced - but I say give the 902 a try. Read my post on the perfect cart mod for them. I have tweeked it to be just as convenient as smoking.

Hang in there. And feel free to vent when you need to. We're here to support each
other.

I have a two piece system, and it took a while for me to get the hang of vaping. Vaping, it self, but the two piece system doesn't need constant attention or maintenance. My only problem is picking flavors! Try a different e-cig before you give up!

And there was a learning curve, but I have had only one analog today, instead of the 35-40 I would have had two weeks ago.;)

LOL!!!

Whatdoyeaknow.......there 'is' something of interest besides e-cigs on here.

Oh there's lot's of neat non-ecig stuff here (although the nudity is very limited:(). Check out the General Discussion forum. For example, I've got a couple threads going on the meaning of screen names and avatars ... and on tattoos (a poll and discussion).

Been using a 901 for 8 months. Been using a KR808D for a week now, and cannot go back to the 901. Not inconsistant at all. This thing is great. Better taste and throat hit. Overall, I've been satisfied with 901, but the KR808D takes it to another level. I avoided this in the past, because I thought it was too costly. I'm on my second cartomizer that has been refilled 11 times. My first one was filled 13 times before it died. They last me 4-7 hours and hold 20-30 drops. You can get an adapter for them to work on your 901. At 2 cartomizers a week at under $2 each, I don't think it's going to cost more then 901.

get a 510. much better vapor throathit and flavor. I hated the 901 till i got a 510. I also had the in love feeling but it is partly because it is something new and not necessarily the model. I liked vaping with the 901 but i felt it couldnt replace smoking now i got the 510 and have had it for a couple months now and effectively quit smoking.

Rockymountainvapor.com and cignot.com have cheap 510 starter kits

Get a 510 and a battery mod for home use, and a KR808D for going out. Don't give up; e-cigs can be a PITA to get the hang of, but at least they won't slowly kill you... 8-o

I'm with MHR7331 on this, although I would emphasize the pleasure advantage of e-cigs even more than the health one. Once you find the device that's right for you, it can be heaven!

And don't bother with those darn carts! Drip! It's so much easier and less wasteful (what you drip on the atty gets vaped, not stuck on the bottom of the cartridge filling).

I would add to MHR7331's suggestions: the penstyle. That is my go-to device. Excellent flavor, throat hit, and vapor (and longer lasting batteries than the 901). The battery mod I went with is the Prodigy and it's excellent. If I were to buy one today, I'd take a close look at the Bartleby (very inexpensive for a batt mod) and the Chuck (less expensive than most). And, in 3.7V mode, the battery can be as much as 3000 mAh! Recharge only every two or three days. [I talk about and provide links to the Bartleby here and the penstyle and Chuck here.]

Vaping can be cheaper than smoking! Just as there is an upfront investment in research (spending time here learning about this very different nicotine-inhalation device) and experimentation, so there is an upfront financial investment in hardware (buying two or three starter kits until you find the one that's right for you). Once you've settled in, the replacement parts and juice should run about half what most people spend on analogs.

I truly have found vaping to be a Wonderful World!

Hey brewster, have faith friend!

While we wait for angeliques reply, wanted to throw out a line. Not as good a line as Vapor Petes but...

I use 901's and 510's pretty much exclusively. Several posters have mentioned the dreaded "learning curve"!

It is real! There IS a learning curve. Some folks pick it up quicker than others, I know cuz I took forever to get this vaping thing sussed out.

What I learned with regards to the 901.
Keep it wet. If ya drown it blow it out. Then keep it wet.

If your using auto batts, get rid of em. If your using manuals your heading in the right direction. Life's a lot simpler if you can get yourself one of the mods available. Then your battery issues go away and your left with figuring out the atomizer. Whatever your using make sure it's charged. Then keep the atty wet.

Quality control on these things is spotty at best. Total luck of the draw as to whether you'll get an atty that last's a week or a month. One aspect of the learning curve is accepting that the attys and OEM batts are disposable and not intended to last forever.

If you do look at getting a mod, great. Keep in mind that aside from aesthetics, and some of em do look nice, in the end they all do the same thing. They hold a battery.

Main difference between em is flexibility. I use an AdapteveR. There are several others available that work just as well. One device, one battery type and an assortment of one-time-purchase adapters and I can use 801's, 901's, 510's, 306's, 808's and I believe Green Cigs.

Point is, stick with your 901. Make it work. You'll thank yourself for it.

Hey - guys - let's not derail Brewster's thread - OK?

Maybe a 901 is not the device for you. Everyone raved about the Sidesho (also from Modern vapor) but I didn't care for it. I am so glad that I got a 902 in my order - I love that one. I'm vaping cotton candy right now - ya can't do that with an analog!

As for the expense - even if you buy a new PV every month - it is cheaper than analogs.

Best of luck and keep us posted.

When you read enough threads here and vape enough times yourself, you realize that the OP here is probably typical of many, if not most, people who give PVs a try. ECF is a tiny subset of the e-cig community, and I'd bet there are tons who have tried them, found out the shortcomings, and went right back to analogs.

Even the experienced vapers on this forum go through multiple models of e-cigs, try various modifications, etc., only to find that this is something that actually requires a time and effort investment that regular cigarettes don't demand.

For me, though, my thought is: So what? The alternative was to continue throwing money away and wrecking my health. There is no price I can put on how great I feel today, or on how my outlook has gotten more positive. So what if my 510 is not flawless? So what if it takes a little work to keep it vaping at peak levels? The benefits will always far outweigh the investment.

Maybe a few months or a year from now there will be a new generation of PV that irons out most of the current shortcomings. Even if the OP or others give up on e-cigs for now out of frustration or failed expectations, I hope they keep checking back on this forum to see what's new. Maybe the right product is just around the corner, and you know you'll probably hear about it first at ECF.

I have to agree.
A new PV from EastMall or Heaven Gifts is $30-$40, add some Juice and shipping and you are looking at $60-$70 total once a month.
For me a pack of Camels is $4.50 at best. Thats $135 a month.
