There is a reason the 510 isn't really recommended by most for new beginning vapers
You know, folks "go to the you-Tube and see them videos" and folks are like OMG 510 + Manual MegaVapor Heaven, and like ya' do, you go for as Daft Punk wrote "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger!"
But like Ol' Ben Parker told Peter: With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility
As pointed out by others, the 510 does it's thing by getting hot *fast*. More often then not, a beginner is gonna want to draw on that thing like a .....
And you get "Ugh! Wassat? Meh!"
I have, like others, several different models and I do agree the 510 is VapeTastic™ and wouldn't try to "talk anyone out of it" because that isn't my thing. I would suggest tho if you are just starting out and have to Go Large, start using your 510 with an automatic battery. Most starter kits for 510s come with the manual, but I'd say get the auto and start with that.
With a "primer puff" and a drag, it gives lots of vapor and (more often than not) cuts off at *just* about the right time for you to get a "feel" for where to go with it and prevents that yummy burn taste for quite awhile.
After you get a "feel" for it, switch to manual and add (or lessen) to suite your taste.
If this all seems a lot like "work" for your pleasure, the L88/Volcano/Blu SuperMini "awwww lookie" seems to work really well for the new converts I've let try one of mine. The draw experience feels a bit more like they are used to (others have said this as well and I recall reading somewhere (else?) that and the size was part of the design focus) even tho they need a short "prime" too for optimal performance, the follow thru seems to be more "analog-y".
I like those for on the go when I'm out with people and would be doing something else mostly anyway.
Or, there is the old stand-by, the storied 901. If you aren't down with the "Old Lady" whistle-style carts the come with, the 510 cats fit on them.
