It took me a couple of weeks to get the hang of it, sort of. Compared to a lot of vapers on here I'm probably a lowly amateur with my humble M402 and a fleet of spare batteries but I do like it. I went through all of it, from dodgy atomisers to leaking carts, zero throat hit and strange tasting juices to burnt plastic flavour. BUT (and this is a fat one) the feeling of not being obsessed anymore with permanently sneaking out and finding some apartheid refuge to light one up makes it all up for a bit of technical hassle. In the last few days it all fell into place more or less by itself following a lot of the tips and tricks from this brilliant forum.

Anyway, nothing's perfect and I reckon constructive feedback from vapers who are struggling badly could help improve this amazing invention even more. I suppose that a few reps from manufacturers are at least readers in this forum (?)

Brewster, there's no time limit on this, have a few analogs and don't worry about it, no pressure man. It takes awhile to get it all sorted out..

And in the meantime check these out..
510, 901, 801 Box Mods

I wouldn't have lasted five minutes with my Penstyle 801 starter kit. I bought the 801 box mod, it's great!!!
Now this is good advise, I tried many pv's and to be honest all had their shortcomings. I got some 510's after trying the 4081 by NJoy and thought they were the stuff. After losing a few attys from sudden death I ordered two 401 attys because they would fit the dead atty threads and I could make a few mod boxes. I really had the intention of using and abusing the 401's untill they died so I could use the atties for 510 connectors on box mods. I found right away that the carts, well, sucked. I finally cut off the draw end and dripped in two drops without the cart.

Wow, 510's cannot compare because they still have carts and some of the flavor is lost. The 401 really shines with a box mod because the battery (14500) lasts all day long and the vapor is better. Now all I carry is my 401 boxmod and a spare battery because I can kill one in eight hours from constant vaping. I also carry the second atty in case the first ever dies on me but after more then two months I am begining to think it never will. I did spend a few hundred buck on all the stuff I have and don't use but after six months I am way ahead of the game.

It's definitely the search for the holy grail. You have to experiment - but I think my health and longer life is worth it! I'll never go back to analogs.

Please don't quit based on your experience with one PV. It's a combination of things to get it right - the right supplies and the right liquid. I've found mine in a 510, with nhaler.com's High Voltage liquid and the straw or PTB mod (both work equally well if done properly.) Great flavor, consistant vapor and great throat hit. The key with 510's is to have plenty of batteries to swap out as they charge and a USB passthrough for when you're not near a power source, to give your batteries a rest. Also, to have one atomizer dedicated to each flavor, so you're not overworking and overcleaning them.

I mostly use one flavor and my atomizer was getting overworked - the draw was hard and vapor lighter. So I switched it to a clean one and now it's right as rain again. Now I'm cleaning the old one in some vodka to see if I can bring it back to peak performance. If not, no big deal - buying a new atty occasionally is cheaper than a pack of cigs a day.

My husband has been tougher to please. We just can't seem to get him 100% happy. The device is fine, but he just couldn't get the nicotine relief and throat hit. So, we raised the nicotine content and switched to the HV and added more menthol. So far, it seems to be doing the trick. It just takes some experimenting, but it's worth it in the long run, IMO.

I hope you keep trying and find your magic combination - I'm sure it's out there for you!!

I have to agree.
A new PV from EastMall or Heaven Gifts is $30-$40, add some Juice and shipping and you are looking at $60-$70 total once a month.
For me a pack of Camels is $4.50 at best. Thats $135 a month.

I live in Illinois and a pack of Camel's average $5.80/pack. Some times you would find a two pack special for $10. Doesn't matter anymore though, vaping is for me for life. I just started a couple of weeks ago. I have a 103 with a usb passthough (the atty arch is exposed for easy dipping). I also have a SS Choice No 7, which is someone compatible with my 103 USB-PT. I love it.

There is a little more work to vaping, like cleaning your attys from time to time. Setting up a easy system for dripping (or dipping, I use small plastic paint pots for my juice, with a velcro piece on the bottom that I keep in the car). But I now have more energy to do these things. Not to mention more lifetime. Time is money and vaping gives me more time and money!

AH HA!
That's the ticket jade. Simple. Now I can dip while driving!

Thank you...

Brewster 59, I'm assuming your talking about the 901 kits. I was in the same boat and wasted over $150.00 on a couple 901 kits, since I saw so many people talking about them when I started almost 3 months ago.

Guess, I decided this was my one and only opportunity to push through and make it work somehow.

Dying batteries drove me crazy with 2 chargers, carts - I read and tried everything and they drove me crazy, too(s).

Finally I got The Chuck 510 and that got me totally off of cigarettes. It vapes like a cigarette to me. And I've found out I'm a 6 volt dripper. So that's a world of difference from where I started and now it works for me. I was almost a 40 year smoker, around 2 packs a day.

But, I will say today I'm using the Silver Bullet at 6 volts until my sleeves arrive for The Chuck (I did non rechargeable batteries for awhile) and the SB is working, also. But, I do want to get my Chuck back in commission(s). 3.7 is nice, but it's not 6 volt, so I'm waiting.

Guess my 2 cents is how much would I pay and have paid to quit smoking over the years...so I kept trying and found what does work for me. I happy and not going crazy or dissatisfied any more.

Good Luck!

Thank-you for all your great replies, a lot of info me to asorb, The funny thing is I thought I did my research and most people preferred the 901 to the 510. There seems to be a lot to know about this vaping world and a lot of different bites for different likes (different opinions on which model is best) On a good note my 910 was hitting sooo great this morning best ever. I have been smoking Dekang juice and like it, but for some reason sometimes the flavor is awesome, sometimes harsh, and the damn thing clogs a lot, I guess I flood my atty and cant just blow it out. Funny thing is I only put a couple of drops in at a time and only top off when the hit gets wimpy.

We had no idea how many different options there were when we bought our DSE 901. There is a learning curve on using them and I am still looking for a shorter fatter ecig that just feels more like the real thing. I ordered Revolver kits today- but they are preorder cause they are not in stock. That is the other issue. Which one do you buy that you know you can accesories for? It's a whole new world!8-o

Keep at it brewster, it does get better.
My point in my first reply to you was if you can suss out the atty you do have, get it to work in a way that's productive for you, when you try out different attys you'll be able to get the best out of them with less effort.

Luck!

this is the first thread I have heard of chuck 510. Where do you get that?

The Chuck is a battery mod (meaning it's a complete redesign of an e-cig battery to allow for longer vaping and higher voltage vaping) and you can order with different connectors on it, depending on which atomizer you want to vape on it: 501, 901, and 801 connectors are available I believe.

As sunset said, check out the "Saturday" thread (it's over 350 pages long now!) or here's the website: THAG BUILT: A Wolf in Sheeps Clothing!

When I first got my 901 I thought man this is great, good throat hits, lots of vapor, liked it better than cigs. Now when the damn thing works right it is awesome but it is so inconsistant I'm ready to go back to cigs. Gone is my throat hits, vapor production is weak the damn attys are only a week old. Topping off constantly gets old and forever charging batteries gets old as well. I also dont see how you guys think this is cheaper than cigs if you are forever replacing hardware. Done venting going out to have a cig at least I know I will get good smoke and a throat hit.

[Hang in there man!

If the 3 piece is too much aggravation, put it aside for now and go for a 2 piece with the simple screw on cartomizers, such as a KR808d.

Batteries a problem? Hell, walk around with ten of ‘em in your shirt pocket if you have to.

No throat hit? If your brain starts telling you that this is for sissies, and that you really need a “man” sized hit. Then purchase some 36mg cartos. When you stop coughing, tell your brain to kiss off!

Go ahead and invest the dollars required to reach your level of satisfaction.
Then do what I did. Blab to everyone you know, including your doctor, that you have quit smoking! Let that stand as your motivator! Then the shame of relapsing will be more than you can bear. As in “If I'm not a man of my word, then I must be a total piece of crap”.
You will look back on this as a very worthwhile investment.
