That is a joke, doesn't even exist. It's intended to get people to do exactly what you are doing, think that "something better" is coming so you don't buy the actual revolutionary product. Truth is YiHi's technology doesn't even compete with Evolv's non-temperature dna technology, the temperature stuff is a quantum leap above that, so YiHi's several steps behind now. Notice how they crammed just about everything they could think of into that "announcement"?
China is known to do this, they make up some fake device with specifications they claim are better than whatever just came out, when it doesn't actually exist. Then they try to copy whatever it is that came out.

I hadn't seen the actual announcement, only saw some brief references to it when searching for info on the DNA40. If it is just crap, that sucks, but at the very least I'm sure they are at least already working on cloning the temperature protection. If they can pull it off then no doubt we'll see some higher power devices that utilize it and knowing them, very quickly. It may just be worth waiting for, in my case at least. I know what you're saying about the benefits but I honestly just don't know if I could find myself completely happy with only 40 watts. I'll certainly be keeping my eye out on the horizon though.

I do like YiHi's board but have to agree. Also who in their right mind would vape something at 250 watts?!?

Sent while presently sitting on my .... watching mind numbing prattle on the TV. 257 Channels and nothing on.

To me it wasn't about vaping at 250 watts... I rarely go above 70 watts.... though that's probably an artifact of my device only supporting 75 watts versus my preference. Though the vapor I can get at 75 watts definitely keeps me happy so I really don't know... My draw to the Yihi when thinking about it was simply the fact that if I'm running a set of coils at say 70 watts, that leaves a LOT of headroom for that instant heat up. Essentially meaning no lag time. Like I said, having never used one maybe my idea or thoughts are skewed, but I would certainly want to use the full 40watt potential. Right now I'm used to 40 and 50 watt setups getting that "pulse start" that pretty much instantly heats them (it puts the full 75 watts on them for like half a second) and then lays into the set. When I run a 70 watt setup my lag time is increased. It's not terrible, but enough that I still prefer the 50-60 watt range so I can still take advantage of it. If I'm running a setup that needs all 40 watts on a DNA40, then lag time becomes at the very least a small annoyance for me. On the other hand, run a 70 watt setup where it can blast it with 100, 150, 200 or even 250 watts for a fraction of a second to come up to temp and you've essentially eliminate any and all lag time. To me that's the benefit of having a much higher power device like that, versus actually trying to "run" at such wattages.

I don't see why yihi chips are accused to being clones or cheap chips. They are the best in the market. They had reverse battery protection and buck circuitry way before dna. I'm not saying dna is bad but I have both and honestly the sx350 is better in what I said plus it shows you the actual battery sag which is a plus. In terms of quality no idea both work. Just sayin'

I like variety, there's no one set up that's perfect for me.

I have a Fogger with a 1.0 ohm build at 20 watts. Convenient, with good flavor and decent vapor. Magma with a 0.6 ohm build at 30-35 watts, good vapor, excellent flavor, but a little less convenient. Plume Veil with a 0.3 ohm build at ~60-70 watts, tons of vapor, good flavor, but a lot less convenient.

I don't always need >40 watts, but it's good to have. Once in a while, I like to throw some big, chunky thick coils on a plume veil and pump a bunch of watts through it.

Altogether, though, I'd have to say a DNA40 would be excellent, and I want one. Problem is the vapor flask and bap mod (I like dual 18650s for battery life) are a bit too pricey.

Because they are both clones and cheap, and they are absolutely not the best on the market. Reverse battery protection and buck-boost are old tech.

They would have to successfully clone the DNA first which they have not. Their current technology is not capable of temperature control.

You do know that there are many that are quite happy vaping at 7 watts ... not 70. So when developing more advanced stuff it isn't just about getting more wattage. IMO trying to only create advancements that satisfies one segment of the vaping community would be a huge mistake. So remember that it's just as easy to get a dry hit from a low wattage clearo as it is from a high wattage RDA.

The DNA40 is more about eliminating those dry hits than it is about wattage.

I have had no problems with my SX350 at all. Charges two 18650 batteries in parallel no problem, just have to make sure the charger you are powering it with has enough ... to do it. I am using a 2.1 amp charger from Monoprice. Adjustment is easy peasy. Took me a while to get used to the gravity sensor but after that no problem. Like I said no problems.

If by clone you mean being a variable wattage chip then ok, but other than that I don't see anything else. Maybe you know more info about the actual components inside the chip?

Temperature control is mostly software and some minor hardware. Once someone does it the Chinese will be able to clone it. I don't think it will be as "elegant" in the software department but, they'll figure it out sooner than later. I'm not advocating cloning for sure just stating that reverse engineering seems to be their specialty. :)

The hardware is a bigger issue than you might think... It's not easy to get 25 amps out of a board this small, and the metering has to be extremely accurate.
These things are engineering marvels. Again China hasn't even cloned the original DNAs correctly.

Yeah basically without the DNA there would be no SX.

Of course I do... It's just that I'm not... Just last night in fact when I was out for the evening my battery died on me. Thinking the spare I was carrying was fully charged I hadn't bothered to swap it.... Unfortunately the spare I grabbed wasn't the one I thought it was, it was in fact dead as well... I ended up vaping on the backup I had in the car... A kayfun with a 15w mod.... Did it vape? Of course... Are there lots and lots of vapers out there that would have been thrilled with it and probably even remarked at the flavor and vapor they got out of it? of course.... Was I happy? Not at all...

I'm not suggesting anyone try to create advancements that satisfies only one segment of the vaping community.... I'm simply saying that for me and my personal preferences I honestly feel at this point I'd be happier with a 75w device with no temperature protection versus a 40w one with temperature protection. Does that mean there aren't lots of other vapers that wouldn't be thrilled with it? Of course not... but I'm sure there are many others like myself who also wouldn't be happy with it at the moment.... When the same technology comes out in say a 100w device or more? Then I'll be happy as a lark. :)

I'm a variety vaper. I want a device that'll run a 1.6 ohm topper at 10 watts, a 0.3 ohm topper at high watts, and everything in between. Adding temperature control is a freaking fantastic idea, and kudos to the guys at evolv for that. Most of the time, 40 watts is certainly enough, but not always.

If there were a 100w temp protected dual 18650 mod, all my wants would be fulfilled. The Vapor Flask is almost it, just not quite the power I would like, and too freaking expensive.

Here's what's nice about some high wattage devices - if you don't need it, you don't have to use it. Given the choice between two mods with similar specs, except one goes to 150 watts and the other only 100, I'll pick the 150w device. I don't envision myself ever needing that much. When I was happily vaping my Kanger protank on an MVP2, I didn't think I'd ever need 30 watts.

What i hear is "IMO trying to create advancements that satisfies THAT segment of the vaping community would be a huge mistake."

The context of the post pretty much defines the statement.

Think about it... All the innovative and/or known reliable regulated mods that people complain about low power are pretty much lacking in power ONLY. The only segment of the market left out by evolve and provape for example are the high watt users. The ones most in need of safety and reliability as a feature set.

And yes... I Do know most people don't vape like me. I expect that. The same respect and decency doesn't seem to be reciprocated too often...

NO, I meant exactly what I said. It would be a mistake to exclude other segments for the sake of just one. (and it doesn't matter which "just one")

    ex:
Go to the noob section and read the number of posts from those starting out that have no idea why their brand new ce4 that came in their starter kit tastes burnt.
They need the temp control technology a lot more than those of us that have been using RDAs for a year or more, and know when a wick needs more juice.
