My thoughts on the Smok XPro M80 Plus

I recently bought an XPro M80 Plus and have been thoroughly enjoying it. I have no plans to use the extra features of "Temp Control", Mech Mode or that Vape Plan limit thing. These features are all pretty useless in my opinion and it seems to be the opinion of most. The Temp Control would have been great but it isn't a true temp control and apparently doesn't work nearly as well as a dna 40 or YiHi. The Mech Mode just runs off your batteries voltage but seems to still be processed by the chip. I would think a true Mech Mode should bypass all digital circuitry and I don't see how that would work without the right kind of mechanics. Wouldn't the only point to using a Mech Mode be to have it switch to direct analog circuitry?

If the M80 Plus has all this extra stuff that makes it a "Plus" and all this extra stuff is worthless to most, why would I choose this device? I chose the M80 because it made the most sense as an upgrade to my old IPV2. I wanted something inexpensive, with more power, a built in battery and more comfortable to hold. That ruled out the Sigelei 100 or 150 which I actually had been really thinking about. Another one I was really on the fence about was the iStick 50w. I don't mind that it's only 50 watts because it's such a champ in the way it performs. To me it just looks a little cheap with the black stripe down the middle and those big up and down arrows. I do like the ergonomics of the iStick 50 but it kinda takes away from the classic box mod aesthetics that I love.

So, I got the XPro M80. It's super solid, comfortable and compact, looks classy as all get out and was a great price for 80 Watts. I'm happy as a clam with this underdog!

Is it still working?

Thank for the review

Regarding battery life, mine lasted only a day. Heavy Vaper here.

But Vaped it only at 17-21 Watts max. on a Lemo prebuilt 1,0 Ohm and a Delta 2 at 0,5 prebuilt coil.

Now after 3 weeks it is broken, shows on the screen: No Atomizer
yep, builts work on another device

I wouldn't recommend it a friend had his for almost 2 weeks before it died on him. And another Youtuber called DJLsb Vapes (i think) had his fourth reviewed device died after some use.

I hate rma and waiting times.

The Smok I got was the very first 0004 version which I updated after the update the firmware came out to version 0005

The picture shows it not being fully flush. Does it sit flush with all tanks and atty's? It states there is a spring 510 connecter. All aty's should sit flush with a spring loaded pin. Thanks

When I had first gotten it I thought it didn't sit flush but I just had to tighten it down more. haha All my tanks and atty's do sit flush with no issues.

My M80 is actually the old version as well. (updated to V0005) Mine is still going strong with no issues. I'm still getting great battery life and performance. I only use Wattage mode so I can't speak for it's 'Temp control'. I hear about how some people have had the problem with it 'dying' or giving them a No Atomizer message. I've also read that sometimes these issues were caused by people trying to screw down the spring 510 connector. It looks like it can be tightened or loosened but all it does is spin and can potentially mess with the wiring, causing problems. If it's really that sensitive of a pin then maybe these issues can be caused by heavy use as well. I can only speculate. The only thing that gets me sometimes with the M80 is that when the battery life get's down to %33 it reduces the wattage. I usually vape around 50-65 watts and when battery life gets down to %33 the wattage drops to 30W. It's not a big deal though because it takes me 2 days to get the batteries that low. haha

I still like my M80 but I think Smok should have ditched the 'Temp' and 'Mech' modes and taken more time to work out the bugs and weed out the lemons. It could have been a winner as a solid, sleek 80 watt device and that's what they should have shot for.

Mine has really tight 510 threads. It's ok with my subtanks and Magnus, but my Lemo2's have shorter threads and it seems to stretch the threads so I don't use those on it. You guys have tight 510's also? Other than that I like it.
Yea, mine definitely has tight threads too. I noticed it the most with my Hobo RDA clone and my Lemo. (Thats why the Hobo pictured above doesn't sit flush. At the time I thought that was as far as it went.) My Freakshow mini and Mutation X v3 aren't as bad on it but still a snug fit.

It works great for the reason I purchased it thought. But I do watch how I screw my tanks on it.

For all the 510 comments, are you guys saying that all attys will sit flush on the mod? So the 510 isn't too shallow and the spring loaded pin does go down far enough to accommodate all atomizers?

I just got one of these M80's in the mail and was heated the none of my attys would sit flush on it. I was about to open a ticket and send the thing back to where I got it, but figured I'd hit the web and see if others were having the same issue. I wasn't sure if I got a crappy one, or if they were all like that.

I'm kinda scared to crank down on the attys any harder to see if the dang things will sit flush. I'm hearing from some it kinda had to be "broken in", where their attys didn't sit flush at first, but a week late they did. I'm just not sure what to think about this thing.

I have one of the v6 versions and all my 22mm atties fit flush. I do have occasional check atomizer messages that disappear if I crank it down a little more. In the beginning, I think I worried about maintaining the mirrored top without scratches and that contributed to the check atomizer problem. For the cheap price, mine is working very well and Im happy with it.

Well crap, I guess I'll have to send my back then. What a stupid peace of junk. I can't believe that a spring loaded 510 can't get a single one of my atomizers to sit flush. My pin is the version without the slot in it for screw driver adjustment. I'm assuming they changed that after a bunch of people kept twisting theirs until it broke connection.

Getting atomizers to sit flush is one of the easiest things to do, yet so many China devices fall short in this area. Drives me crazy. So ...... about this.

So, what is a good China box that has a real adjustable or spring loaded 510 so all my atomizers will sit flush? Also, one that 22mm atomizers won't hang over the edge on?

If you can deal with 'just' 30w the Sigelei Mini is pretty rock solid.

I got a cloupor mini 30 watt, so that's an okay 30 for me. I ended up keeping the M80. I was able to mess with the 510 post and get some attys to sit flush on it, although not all of them will. I'm also getting a skin for it, which will hopefully raise the top of the box mod a little bit to fill in the gap. I just hate atty gaps so much, I mean it'd 2015 for f*#k sake..... nothing should have atty gaps at this point.

Got mine a couple of months ago... Right off the bat i could barely get any tanks on mine had to force them on there (ver. 6 btw) i tried to return it and the guy at the shop trys to tell me im the one who broke it. I was ...... off since he charged me $98.00 for the thing. In an effort to keep me comming back as a customer he tells me they will replace the 510 connection with a "fat daddy" pin for free, after i get it back it is no longer spring loaded and all of my tanks will not sit flush. Has still worked fine the whole time until 2 weeks ago now it jumps ohms all the time while in the middle of a lung hit. With a herakles .6 ohm coil it will say it is .64 and then i will take a haul and like half way through it will jump to 1.74 ohms and tear my head off. Im done with this thing and wish i never bought it... Sorry for the Novel
