Hey all, first post here. I was a smoker for about 5 years and recently made the jump to a PV. After seeing the sheer amount of shady marketing on the Internet around e-cigs, I decided to lurk, read reviews and watch YouTube videos to decide what starter kit to buy. After a few weeks, I decided to get an eGo-T through Janty (paid too much and I realize this now). I wasn't thrilled with what I read about the tank system and the leaking/vapor prod/flavor issues, but I wanted to give it a shot. I felt like the low-to-zero maintenance throughout the day would make it more likely for me to get through a work day without resorting to analogs, not to mention that I can load a couple tanks and be set for a pretty damn long time.

2 weeks after getting the starter kit (and running out of RY4) I bought a bunch of juice and got some Type B LR Attys. I feel pretty good at this point. I have bought 2 packs of analogs since making the move to PV but I was almost a PAD smoker before, so I think I'm doing pretty well.

Now I'm questioning the tank system entirely. The leaking issues on the type B tanks are supposedly nearly leak-proof with rubber replacement caps, but I'm thinking about getting some eGo attys or cartomizers. I want to keep the same black eGo look for the time being but I know I can always buy an eGo cone and put it over whatever I'd like. Can anyone recommend something to me? I may buy a drip tip or 2 to try it out as well.

After reading the above, anybody who didn't tl/dr knows that I haven't saved any money from switching to PV :p

No fuss, no mess... Until you fry your battery.

If you like the LRs, get a pack of Boge 2.0ohm cartos.
A 1.5ohm carto puts a lot of stress on the eGo mosfet. Especially for a new user, if your not careful you can fry your mosfet and ruin your eGo. The Boge2.0ohms are still LR and they work great on the eGo and won't stress your eGo like he 1.5ohm will. Their a popular carto that is easy to use and will help you get past the learning curve and really learn how to use your PV well. Then if you want to try some other stuff later go for it.

How are you refilling your cartridges? This may be the cause of the leakage. I had watched a few videos on You Tube that demonstrated using a syringe to refill the puncture hole in the bottom of the cart.

I have a dual coil that I use sparingly, it provides a hot vape on my 5V passthrough in my opinion. These being 510 will fit on your Ego battery.

You can use LR cartos, just the real low ones will put alot more stress on them. And that's what kinda sucks, bc they will work fine for awhile and then one day one of your cartos or something will drop .1-.2ohms because of extended use and just like that your mosfet fails and turns your eGo into a paperweight.
Many people have used the lower ohm cartos on an eGo with no problems, but alot of people have also fried their eGos with real low resistance cartos also. So if you do, just be careful. I'd recommend using a multimeter to check all your 1.5ohm cartos Because then you might be able to catch a carto that potentially could fry your eGo.
For a new vaper I think the 2.0ohm boges are good to learn on if you want LRs. What the 1.5ohm cartos do is give you very little room for error, the 2.0ohm cartos will be alot less likely to fry the battery for a newbie, if he/she accidentally makes a new user mistake

You mentioned the Ressurectors, I was gona say at least use them if you want to use something lower than the 2.0ohms. They are less rough on the EGo and seem to fry batteries a lot less than the 1.5ohms. My buddy uses the Ressurectors on the eGo and hasn't had any problems, but you still need to be careful. My buddy checks them all to make sure none at below 1.7ohms.
I use the Ressurectors too on an EPower and they are consistant, pretty much everyone I check is dead on at 1.7ohms.
They won't be at full potential on an eGo, but they still hit nice because their a badass carto.

I've been ripping off the caps most of the time which I know is causing the leaking issues. I have a couple bottles that are small enough to refill tanks without taking off the caps.

Here's the reading I got on my carto. Is this in the range I want?

;)

Looks like I need to get a multimeter and start watching my cartos. Thanks for the heads up.

Once you get your setup to your liking maybe you can start saving money. This month I have spent less on my month's worth of vaping supplies than I would have on cigarettes. But that's with a lot of willpower. I did splurge last month on a passthrough and do not regret the purchase.

someone mentioned that you look at the videos for filling the cartridges and I think that is a wonderful suggestion. The cartridges can be a little picky and can cause leaking. I have a tornado-t which I think is comparable to a ego-t and I have yet to have a leak. I learned alot from the videos.

I second the suggestion for using cartomizers. Crystal Clear Vaping is a good supplier and if you buy the 15 carto deal, you can pick either 2 black/white drip tips or get 1 clear colored tip. He also includes a syringe/needle setup for filling, but it isn't really necessary to fill a carto.

Welcome to the forums and the wonderful world of vaping! :)
