I know this has been discussed, debated and suggested many times. I still bring it up because I feel it is important.

ECF is quite strongly supporting anti-FDA vaping rules and regulation. This is great and I agree with this militant attitude.

The name of this great forum, E-Cigarette Forum is giving the wrong image. None of us here are promoting using cigarettes. Why have that name identifying every posts.

I think the ECF should show leadership and change its name to something more representative of its members.

I understand that this would cause some hardships to ECF, ( and maybe to some members ). vaping has nothing more to do with cigarettes/somke/ashtrays ...etc.

We need to put pressure on ECF to 'put their money where their mouth is' and act to promote and defend vaping and to stop associating vaping with cigarettes.

Electronic Cigarette is an established term that is gaining in recognition as an alternative to tobacco cigarettes, but with virtually blameless status. Even the FDA, the CDC, the AMA, and doctors who are called upon to comment just say, "We don't know at this point, but we'd rather have our smokers turn to established methods like nicotine gum and other quit smoking medications. What they are really saying is, "There's no money for us in promoting ecigs. Pharmaceutical companies provide us with loads of bennies like Caribbean vacations, golfing trips, seminars in exotic places, and lunch and dinner parties to woo our business".

My friends jokingly refer to my ecig as "that fake cigarette". "When you gonna quit that fake cigarette?", they ask. I reply, "Don't really have any plans to ... no one has come out and declared it to be harmful." They just grin. Personally, I believe that the powers that be couldn't find anything detrimental in the ecig testing they have done. If it made one leg grow shorter than the other or caused some serious ailment to befall users it would be all over the airwaves in "This just in" style newsroom blurbs.

I'm comfortable with the electronic cigarette nomenclature.

Thank you. That comment really contribute to the discussion. I hope your previous 7607 posts were as informative.

I am not saying that his post was informative, but it does have merit. This topic has been discussed, and then that discussion was discussed, which was followed by a discussion about the discussion in regards to the first discussion. It is just wrapped in different words usually. Next you might want to look at the discussions about clones vs. originals. That has beaten even worse.

Be noted that I am 100% with you on not wanting to be associated with smoking, but to change the name would be a drastic attempt to disassociate.

The last sentence in this defense of the name ECF ends with '' ..... and anything else is only of marginal interest. '' . It shows not leadership in defending vaping but in defending its vested interest.

.... and many here try with ridicule to stop discussing the subject matter. Nobody compels anyone to post in this thread. So why being so obnoxious ? Just move on.

Tangaroav, you're the one who said 'this has been discussed, debated and suggested many times'. A little humor in a case like this (that lead to a bit more humor) isn't such a bad thing :)

All the negative comments that only aim to stop discussing the subject matter are sadly reaching their goal. Very few are willing to contribute in such a climate.

..and GMayberry's '' humorous'' comment '' I think that is a great post to be followed by "closed thread" is a good exemple of it.

As mentioned by klynnn, you have to have been around a while to understand it. I'm not trying to be rude or bash your thoughts on the matter, but it has been beaten so much that it becomes almost pointless to "start it over". Another thread recently was closed by a mod and in his final comment he wrote "If there was any sign of a meaningful discussion. It has already passed..."

I am sorry to come off as opposing, but these topics tend to reach that point very quickly.
