Those sample bottles are a good start as are the recommendations and the ones you chose. I also like Analog Blend and Sun cured Turkish from NET. Goodejuice has a decent menthol NET as well, I think it's 50/50 but it's not harsh. After you find a NET you like you might order the extract versions and mix your own like I do, it saves a little money.

Well.. my son's e juice was super harsh for him with an 80/20 vg heavy mix.. now granted, it also had a higher than 12 mg nicotine level.. and throat hit comes from both places..

But if an 80/20 mix was too harsh, higher nicotine or not, are you sure that a 50/50 mix wouldn't also be too harsh well?

I'm thinking I should both lower the nicotine (to 12) AND raise the vg level to smooth out the hit for him..

Why are you thinking that 50/50 isn't harsh?

I'm personally allergic to pg, so I'm perhaps a little lost on the properties of pg in general.. as I don't use it..

Is this then where nicotine salts come into play?

Well when I came to the vaping world 3 years ago, higher Pg was the norm. Now things have changed and High VG is king and everyone's terrified of PG :D
50/50 is certainly no harsher than a cigarette, at least to me. 70pg/30vg was the most common ratio and recommended for NETs when I started. Certainly pg has a harsher throat hit but that's closer to a cigarette. I started out at 32mg nic and went down to 18-24 mg. I can't see anyone who does MTL at powers of 10W or less getting off cigs at 6mg nic unless they weren't really addicted in the first place. Direct to lung at 30 to 40 w that might work with 6mg, tootle puffing they won't get close to the nic they have in cigarettes.
VG makes my lungs tight and wheezy. Pg works for me, mines at 80pg/20vg. Harsh? Not to me. Throat hit? Yep. 18 mg to 24 mg nic, except in a Myjet pod 32-36 mg nic salts, and yes smoother than regular nic.
Unless you have an allergy to pg or vg (rare though for a true allergy) 50/50 is not harsh on a MTL device for a NET in my opinion. Koolaid fruit smoothie juice direct to lung vapers might call its harsh but not most smokers :D
These days with all the high VG thick juices being Vaped when some start saying that their lungs are staring to feel tight and congested and wheezy, I get to tell them to try higher PG.

Someone else had recommended that site to me, and before entering this thread I have ordered Balkan as well as organic spirit, as both of those seemed like possibles.. so I ordered a sample bottle of each (just 5ml of each) to try out, in a 12mg/ml of nic, in a max vg..

NET.com & GoodeJuice are both fine for Natural Tobaccos, not sure how much higher the 12mg Nic your son's juice was, which could have increased Throat Hit (TH). Don't forget, higher VG % will increase the sweetness of e-juice, but 12mg @~50/50 should work fine, decreasing sweetness and TH with a 6mg or higher drop compared to your son's nic level.

To explain, I'm giving my husband one of my P3's and setting him up with a kayfun 4..(I have an extra to give him of that also) he tried mine the other day (my p3 with a kayfun 4) and decided he changed his mind and wanted to start vaping if we could get him some flavors he will like.

He does NOT like my sweet flavors in the least, but he does like how they vape (i vape max vg low nicotine with no throat hit) I had him try one of my son's e juices (in a cleaned kayfun with a new coil and wick) that was a tobacco hybrid, and he thought that was too sweet too..

So, as far as device we have him set up happily, it's the juice that is what I'm searching, in specific.

I'm just now getting into DIY.. I have my flavors, but not his (as he swore for the last three years vaping was weird and he wouldn't vape.. lol) So.. tobacco flavors are new to me, and I know nothing about them.

I'm figuring I need first to purchase some ejuices that he likes.. then see if I cannot copycat the recipe (or find a good copycat of what we find that he likes) I'm seeing that as more feasible and more cost effective than buying a ton of flavors blind..

Once he tries NET's, likes them and you want to save money and make your own, you will want to check out this thread to find out how. Tobacco extraction using heated Ethanol

And this one for the different tobaccos. Best tobacco for flavor extraction

It's really very simple albeit a little time consuming.

If that's too involved, and/or you find the retail NET's too expensive, here is a thread on tobacco flavoring. Favorite tobacco flavoring discussion - Tobacco flavoring discussion only

Before I started making NET's, Hangsen Red USA and Hangsen Virginia were my favorites. (both at about 4%)

Also keep in mind that tobacco's generally need to steep (1-several weeks) to reach their peak flavor.

Definitely consider my suggestions. The liquids are dry in flavour and are very conducive to an ex smoker.

If I could recommend only one juice it would be Big Spirit by Naturally-extracted-tobacco.com followed closely by Air Cured Burley from the same vendor.

What strength nicotine are you vaping in your kayfuns? I've found anything more than 6mg in kayfuns will give me a headache pretty quick. The Vapor is dense and packs a punch.

Maybe consider buying juice at 6-8 mg if you are going to set up a kayfun for him.

I vape either three or 6 mg.. depending, but more than anything I vape with nicotine for the little bit of a peppery taste it adds. I quit vaping for a few months and only recently picked vaping back up, and now I simply don't need nicotine at all, at first when I picked it back up I was making zero nicotine, but it was just missing something flavor wise until I started using nicotine again.

But my husband is new and just coming off cigarettes so I find it doubtful he will ever quit at 6mg..

when I quit smoking I was using 18mg and I went through serious withdrawals (although at the time I was using a ce4 and my consumption was lower) which were so bad it was all I could do to get through the initial switch.

My son is doing well getting off the smokes using 9mg. nic when he sub ohm's and 24mg. nic when he is vaping a low wattage device.. (but he was smoking three packs of Marlboro reds a day prior to vaping)

Now my husband, he doesn't smoke quite as much as I did back when I smoked, I was a two pack a day person, and my husband only smokes a pack and a couple cigarettes a day (a carton lasts him 8 to 9 days) so I haven't been thinking he needed as much nicotine as my son, so I had been thinking of putting him on 18 to start..

I was originally thinking 18 mg because consumption will be a little higher on the Kayfun than mine was on the ce4 but probably not too high (i vape anywhere from 5-7 ml a day on the kayfun and kabuki)..I was kind of hoping that would be fine without the same harsh withdrawals that I went through.. but then when the 24 mg of my son's juice was too harsh on his throat when he tasted it I went ahead and decided to start him at 12mg nic instead just to see if that would be better for his throat.

(All of the above is probably just a convoluted way of saying, 12 is my best guess for starting him on.. lol.. but I worry even 12 is slightly too low)

I'm thinking for my husband, the reason he can't take the throat hit is from 42+ years of smoking.. I had smoked for 32 years before taking up vaping, and vaping even on a ce4 was harsh for me in the beginning until I got used to vaping. I'm figuring my husband's throat is in worse shape than mine was most likely, as he is 7 years older than me and started smoking even younger than I did. There is a fair amount of damage that is in play, which will exist until some healing takes place, in my estimation.

Hahaha... hey hey hey.. get off my koolaid fruit smoothie juice! I prefer to think of it as being a connoisseur of all things koolaid fruit smoothie! Hahaha..

And yes.. I hear what your saying and agree with you about nic levels etc. What I might do is try some 50/50 for him in zero nic and if thats okay for him I will add some nic salts for his nicotine for the smoothness of it..

I went ahead and bought some from NN last night after reading a few posts in this thread.. so we will give that a shot! :) that way I don't have to worry about how harsh the nicotine will be on his throat quite so much and can concentrate more on what amount of nicotine will get him off the smokes..

Oh thank you! Yes.. I will definitely look into those threads! Very cool if I can make my own flavoring for him!

And thank you for the tips and possibles! :)

A couple of "ifs". If your husband likes the American Spirit from NET.com and if you get into extracting you could get the pouches of American Spirit and extract those. I've extracted AS Blue, Natural and Perique and they are some of the finest tasting juices I've had. They do take their sweet time though to get to full flavor. Twelve week cold maceration plus four to five months of aging will result in enough extract for a very long time at a relatively low cost as compared to store bought.

Oh cool.. that sounds doable.. thanks for the heads up on time too.. if we find this flavor is for him, then I should get started on an extract right away..

I placed an order yesterday at NET.com and haven't gotten a tracking number. Is this website out of commission? Also, does anybody know of something similar (except with more VG) to want2vape's Blonde? I loved that juice...

Yesterday was Sunday... so not a typical business day and certainly not one that any shipping is going to happen ( In the USA )

As mentioned on their website...

"We will make every attempt to ship orders within 72 hours of receipt/payment (excluding Sundays/Holidays of course). "

I'm uncertain if Clay is still working by himself or if he has assistance now or not... so be patient and if all else fails you can call him on the phone number he has listed.

I'd also suggest that you check your webmail's spam folder... many ISP's will enable spam filtering by default and sometimes the only way to be certain something isn't marked as spam, is to visit the webmail page for your service.

My recollection is that it always takes as long as 72 hrs for a shipment...but well worth waiting for.

Now you got me really interested.
Can you point me to somewhere which has more detailed instructions about how to do this homebrewed extraction?
